Spirit & Truth World Outreach Church ♦ 522 NASA Parkway ♦ Webster, TX 77598 W HY THE D ANIEL P LAN ? On Friday, June 27, 2014, I did not feel well and refused to go into the weekend feeling like that. I wasn’t sure if I was suffering a heart attack, stroke or some other major medical problem. Upon arrival at the emergency room, they conducted several tests. The attending doctor instructed me to visit my primary care doctor the following week. However, a nurse noticing I was preparing to leave asked, “what did the doctor say to you?” I responded, “to see my doctor on the following week”. She insisted that I retrieve my personal reports from the lab. The report revealed I had a “small chronic lacunar infarct that was present on the left basal ganglia.” She explained to my husband and me that I had suffered a mini-stroke. This sent me into a series of frequent doctor appointments that lasted into January of 2015. During this time frame I began to seriously seek God for help to get my health in order. By mid-July 2014, God gave me eight personal confessions that I have committed to say on a daily basis. One of those confessions addressed my health. The most important factor that initiated this process of change in my health was my confession of faith. My daily health confession has been:“Right NOW, Healthy Eating Habits, Exercise and Proper Rest are a part of my Daily Routine and Reverses ALL Generational Sickness, Diseases, and Dis-ease.” Surfing the internet one day, I came across an article about The Daniel Plan© by Pastor Rick Warren. When I read Pastor Rick’s testimony, I identified with so many aspects, even from the pastoral role. He realized during a baptism service that not only was everyone in his congregation FAT, but also he too was just as out of shape as everyone else. He continued “I realized the terrible example I was giving with my own health. How could I expect my congregation to take better care of their bodies if I was such a poor model?” That school of thought, especially as it relates to other leaders in the Body of Christ, had plagued my mind for such a long time. I was just as guilty as those I saw who were very obese. Regardless of how much or how little over-weight we are, over-weight is over-weight, and we are examples, good or bad, to those in whom we serve. When I read the most important benefit of following The Daniel Plan is that you will develop the energy necessary to fulfill your God-given mission here on Earth, I knew this was the right plan for me. As I began preparing for this journey, I realized there were other women in whom God had given me influence over who battle with the same issue (weight) that I too have fought most of my life. I was reminded of the story of the four leprous men in 2 Kings 7:3-4;8-9(NLT) when there was a famine in the city of Samaria. I knew I could not keep this to myself, but I had to share my journey toward better health with those who wanted to travel this road with me. The Daniel Plan incorporates five essentials: Faith, Food, Fitness, Focus and Friends, as the basic catalyst for making healthy choices that will transform a person’s health. The Bible says God wants us to, “Live full lives, full in the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:19). In fact, the Bible says God will help you, “far more than you could ever, imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us” (Ephesians 3:20). The Daniel Plan is a practical lifestyle program, designed to help you achieve health in every area of your life. It’s a gracious approach, encouraging you to take things one step at a time. So the journey has begun! ~SA~ © 2013 The Daniel Plan. All rights reserved.
