Introduction
5
SINVACLITE™ represents the latest
advancements in material and
manufacturing technology. Raw material
properties and product technology have
been combined to provide a light-weight
engineered pipe for various gravity and
non-pressure applications in the
municipal, industrial, road construction,
rehabilitation and marine pipeline
applications.
HDPE Structured Wall Pipe is now the
front runner in replacing traditional pipe
system materials like concrete, CMP
(corrugated metal pipe) and PVC
(polyvinylchloride).
SINVACLITE™ is manufactured through a
specially designed profile extrusion
process where a square or rectangular
profile is extruded and spirally wound
onto a mandrel. The overlap on the edge
of the extruded profile is fused
homogenously together whilst still in the
hot plastic state to create a smooth
internal surface.
This results in a light-weight HDPE
Structured Wall Pipe which has all the
advantages of a normal solid-wall HDPE
pipe but with added benefits of being
light-weight, easy to transport and install,
which then makes it an obvious choice for
gravity and non-pressure applications.
HDPE Structured Wall Pipe is normally
defined by the inside diameter and the
ring stiffness for the desired application.
With pipe ID range from 300mm to
1200mm and ring stiffness of 4kN/m² or
8kN/m².

Dolomite Land in South Africa

SINVACLITE™ HDPE Structured Wall Pipe
Northern Cape, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West and approximately 25% of Gauteng
is underlain by Dolomite rock that become water soluble over time. HDPE Pipes, Fittings and
Manholes are the recommended materials to be used in these areas.
SINVAC manufactures and installs SINVACLITE HDPE Structured Wall Pipe and Manholes for
systems with no mechanical joints and use Hot Gas Extrusion Welding (i/a with SANS 10268-1)
technique to join pipes on site. This method ensure leak free pipe systems suitable for dolomite
areas. HDPE is also very Flexible, Robust and Resistant to most aggressive elements, thus
adapts and withstand soil movement issues in dolomite areas.
SINVAC has extensive experience in pipelines designed and can assist with Manhole designs,
custom fittings and installation of pipe systems. Our Manholes are manufactured using 100%
HDPE material and welded by qualified HDPE welders. HDPE systems are also referred to as
“joint-less” systems, thus guaranteeing no leaks, and perfectly suitable for dolomite areas.

SINVAC has the capacity to manufacture and supply
SINVACLITE™ with ID range 300mm to 1500mm and ring
stiffness of 4kN/m2 or 8kN/m2 at very competitive
prices. HDPE Structured Wall Pipe represents the latest
advancements in material and manufacturing technology. Raw
material properties and product technology have been
combined to provide a light-weight engineered pipe for various
gravity and low-pressure applications in the municipal,
industrial and road construction, rehabilitation and marine
pipeline applications.
Advantages of SINVACLITE™
• Typically weighs less than 10% of equivalent
concrete pipe.
• HDPE has excellent chemical resistance to
most industrial and domestic wastes.
• HDPE is five times more abrasion resistant
than concrete.
• HDPE has a lifespan of up to 100 years.

SINVACLITE™ Manholes
8
SINVAC offers custom fabricated HDPE Manholes for a variety of applications. Manufactured
from a combination of high quality Solid-wall and SINVACLITE™ pipe. SINVACLITE™ Manholes
are resistant to root ingress, preventing contamination to surrounding groundwater and
providing a watertight structure that delivers an extended life expectancy, making them suited
for sewer and stormwater applications.
SINVACLITE™ Manholes are prefabricated , which eliminates the risk of deformation in the
structure. The shaft configuration of the manhole can also be adapted to accommodate many
applications and an HDPE ladder can be fabricated for the inside of the Manhole.

SINVACLITE™ Coupling and Seal Method
Jointing Methods
10
The SINVACLITE™ Coupling and Seal joint can be delivered as sand tight and water tight with
the rubber seal. The rubber seal conforms to international standards and is resistant to
normal storm and sewerage waters.
Jointing must always be carried out in accordance with sound civil practice.
However, in the absence of installation instructions, the following is recommended:
• Align the two pipes vertically and horizontally.
• Clean the pipe end, the coupling and the seal, removing any foreign matter, water, sand,
dirt, etc.
• Install the rubber seal and make sure the seal sits correctly in its location.
• Apply lubricant over the end of the pipe with seal and inside the coupling end.
• Carefully align the coupling and seal end with each other, then push to the required
insertion depth.
• If a lever is used on the pipe to push the joint, insert a block of wood between the lever
and the end of the pipe to prevent damage to the pipe.

SINVAC manufactures the HDPE
Sleeve in-house. We then
extrusion weld the one end onto
the first Structured Wall Pipe.
The second pipe is then inserted
into the HDPE Sleeve on-site and
is also extrusion welded to form
a watertight joint.
The Clamp Joint Method is
designed for jointing pipes in
stormwater and other types of
non-pressure application, repair
of existing pipelines and
maintenance of pipelines. Used
as a joint for plain ended pipes.

Hydraulic Design
SINVACLITE™ has a low friction coefficient, owing to HDPE having a
low friction coefficient.
Manning’s Roughness Coefficient value of n=0.01 is used for pipes
with full flow as per below graph.

Pressure Test
Reason: SINVACLITE™ is used for non-pressure application. Pressure Test
conducted as experiment.
• A pressure test was conducted on the 4kN/m2 SINVACLITE™, with Inner
Diameter of 560mm.
• The Cylinder, as per Figure 1.1, was filled with water. Additional water
was pumped in with a water pressure pump, until required pressure was
reached.
• The result obtained in the experiment, is that the Extrusion Weld and
Structured Wall Pipe can handle at least 1.5 bar pressure, as per
Figure 1.2, without leaking.

Handling, Loading & Transportation
24
SINVACLITE™ HDPE Structured Wall Pipe
Handling
Smaller and lighter size pipes can
be handled by hand.
Larger size pipes should be
handled by machinery.
Lifting
When machinery is used to load
and offload the larger size pipes,
a lifting strap should be used
and not a cable or chain.
Nesting
When transporting nested pipes,
the smaller pipes should be
offloaded first and piled separately.
Loading
Lifting points should be evenly
spaced and well spread. Never drop
the pipes or manholes.
Transportation
When pipes of different sizes are
transported, the heaviest lengths
should be loaded first.
