All our benchtops are rigorously tested and come with a guarantee, so whichever benchtop you choose, you can be sure it will stand up to everyday life in your kitchen for years to come.

Pre-cut benchtopsPre-cut benchtops come in a variety of lengths, depths and thicknesses and are ready for you to take home today. They’re ideal for a straight-line kitchen (maximum length 246cm) or if you’re going to install the benchtop yourself. Just remember you need to cut holes for the cooktop, sink and tap. Pre-cut benchtops are available in laminate, thin layer wood and solid wood.

Custom-made benchtopsOur custom-made benchtops, called PERSONLIG, let you create a kitchen that’s perfect for your space. You can order the exact length and depth you need, rounded corners and holes for the sink, taps and appliances. You can choose under-mounted sinks too. Custom-made benchtops are available in laminate and stone.

LAMINATE BENCHTOPS

PRE-CUTOur pre-cut laminate benchtops are durable and affordable. They are resistent to scratches and stains and are easy to maintain. They come in a range of predetermined combinations of length, depth and thickness as well as a variety of combinations of colour, edge colour and edge shape.

Good to knowClean using a soft cloth or sponge and warm water with a mild, nonabrasive detergent. Avoid furniture polish and strong cleaning agents. Scratches and stains are more visible on dark coloured and high-gloss benchtops so they require more frequent care.

SOLID WOOD BENCHTOPS

PRE-CUTAll our pre-cut solid wood benchtops are available in beech, birch and oak. Whichever wood you choose, you’ll get a unique and durable work surface that, with a little care, will age gracefully.

Beech is a hard wood with an even grain. It is durable and often used for furniture and benchtops. When exposed to sunlight, beech ages from a light red tone to a more rose-brown colour.

Birch is fine-grained and pale in colour with a satin-like sheen that darkens with age. It often has knots or heartwood in cream or light brown which will give your benchtop a unique and distinct natural look.

Oak is a very hard wood, making it a popular choice for benchtops and interiors. Its colour ranges from light brown to a rich reddish-brown and it darkens with age.

Good to knowWe pre-treat all our solid wood benchtops to give them a good start to life in your kitchen, but they require occasional care to keep them in good condition.

To restore the benchtop surface and protect it from stains, apply a wood treatment oil (like BEHANDLA) three to five times a year. Areas where the benchtop may dry out, such as around the sink and cooktop, should be treated more often.

For daily cleaning, use a moist cloth or sponge with some mild detergent and wipe to dry.

PRE-CUTOur thin-layer wood benchtops have the same look and feel as our solid wood benchtops, but require less frequent care.

They are pre-treated with hard wax oil, and no other treatment is necessary until the surface starts to wear.

Thin-layer wood benchtops are made of particleboard and covered with a layer of solid wood, a hardwearing natural material that can be sanded and treated when needed.

We construct our stone benchtops with 95% natural quartz crystals (one of the hardest materials in nature) and 5% high-quality polymer resin which makes the surface smooth, nonporous and easy to keep clean – you never have to worry about red wine or beetroot juice stains. Before choosing a sink, think about the workflow of your kitchen and the types of tasks you often do. Whether it’s a lot of food preparation, hand-washing glassware or just giving your plates a quick rinse before the dishwasher, we’ve got a sink to suit your needs.

Most of our sinks are reversible, so you can choose which way to install them. So, if you choose an asymmetric double-bowl sink, you can have the larger bowl on the left or right.

UNDER-MOUNTED SINK. Offered with PERSONLIG custom-made stone benchtops, under-mounted sinks create an uninterrupted look and make cleaning your benchtop easy.

BLACK QUARTZ COMPOSITE SINK. The distinctive design of a black quartz composite sink can give your kitchen a whole new look. They’re extremely durable and resistant to heat, stains and mould.

How you choose your sink is closely tied to how you’d like to use it. A large single bowl is great for washing big pots for example, while a double bowl is practical for doing two things at once – like washing up and preparing food. A sink with a drainer is helpful if you hand-wash often, and works well for keeping liquids off your benchtop too.

Most of our sinks are reversible and don’t have a pre-drilled hole for the tap so you can position them to suit you. You can use our FIXA tool kit to make a hole for your tap (see page 35).

Most of our sinks have a 25 year guarantee and come in stainless steel (Rating 18/10); smooth-finished white porcelain; and quartz composite – a hard-wearing, stain-resistant material that repels dirt.

You can choose between regular, inset or under-mounted sinks. You can install these yourself, or have them installed with your custom-made benchtop.

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR BENCHTOPStart by measuring your benchtop from the corner where it attaches to the wall. Make sure to make your measurements alongside the wall and always start from the same point. When measuring the depth, start from the wall and measure out. Don’t forget to add 1.5cm for an overhang too.

If you need to measure for a freestanding benchtop (for a kitchen island, for example) simply start from one end and add 3.0cm extra for an overhang.

All PERSONLIG stone benchtops require a mandatory service charge of $550 per order, this includes a check-measure for your convenience.

APPLIANCES What is covered under this guarantee?This guarantee covers applicable faults of the appliance, as per the Terms & Conditions, from the date of purchase from IKEA. This guarantee applies to domestic use only. The exceptions are specified under the heading ‘What is not covered under this guarantee?’ Within the guarantee period, the costs to remedy the fault, eg. repairs, parts, labour

and travel will be covered, provided that the appliance is accessible for repair without special expenditure. Replaced parts become the property of IKEA. The services will be in-home service for domestic appliances, and must be done by the IKEA authorised service partner through its own service operations network. Goods presented for repair may be replaced by refurbished goods of the same type rather than being repaired. If the authorised service agent requests that you deliver the product directly to them, please ensure that the appliance is suitably packaged to avoid any damage during transportation.

How long is the guarantee valid?This guarantee is valid for five (5) years from the original date of purchase of the IKEA appliance from IKEA provided that the appliance was purchased after 1 April 2012. LAGAN appliances have a two (2) year guarantee valid from the original date of purchase. The original sales receipt is required as proof of purchase. If service work is carried out during the guarantee period, this will not extend the guarantee period for the appliance, or the new parts.

Which appliances are covered under this guarantee?The five (5) year guarantee is valid for all IKEA appliances purchased after 1 April 2012, except for LAGAN appliances, which have a two (2) year guarantee.

Who will execute the service?The IKEA service provider will provide the service through its own service operations or authorised service partner network.

operating instructions, incorrect installation or connection to the wrong voltage, damage caused by chemical or electro-chemical reaction, rust, corrosion or water damage including but not limited to damage caused by excessive lime in the water supply, damage caused by abnormal environmental conditions.

• Damage caused by the use of the appliance in a manner other than the use for which it was specifically designed.

• Damage caused by power outages, electrical power surge or improper supply voltage via connection to supply authority mains or alternative supply systems.

• Consumable parts including batteries and lamps. • Internal or external damage as a result of excessive use of cleaning products

or cleaning agents. • Non-functional and decorative parts which do not affect normal use of the

appliance, including any scratches and possible colour differences. • Accidental damage caused by foreign objects or substances and cleaning

or unblocking of filters, drainage systems or soap drawers. • Damage caused by vermin, insects or pets.• Damage to the following parts: ceramic glass, accessories, crockery and

cutlery baskets, feed and drainage pipes, seals, lamps and lamp covers, screens, knobs, casings and parts of casings. Unless such damages can be proved to be due to production faults.

• Cases where no fault could be found during a technician’s visit. • Repairs not carried out by our appointed service providers and/or an

authorised service contractual partner or where non-original parts have been used.

• Repairs to parts or systems caused by unauthorised modifications made to the appliance.

• Repairs caused by installation which is faulty or not according to specification. • The use of the appliance in a non-domestic environment, ie. professional use. • Transportation damages. If a customer transports the product to their home

or other address, IKEA is not liable for any damage that may occur during transport. However, if IKEA delivers the product to the customer’s delivery address, then damage to the product that occurs during this delivery will be covered by IKEA (but not under this guarantee). For claims under this last particular condition the customer should contact IKEA Customer Service at IKEA.com.au

• Cost for carrying out the initial installation of the IKEA appliance. However, if an IKEA-appointed service provider or its authorised service partner repairs or replaces the appliance under the terms of this guarantee, the appointed service provider or its authorised service partner will re-install the repaired appliance or install the replacement, if necessary.

KITCHEN MIXER TAPS What is covered under this guarantee?At IKEA the 10 year guarantee is valid for all kitchen mixer taps, except LAGAN kitchen mixer tap. It covers defects in material and workmanship, and applies to domestic use only. Our kitchen mixer taps are tested well beyond all relevant international standards, and we use only top brand components to secure our 10 year guarantee promise.

What will IKEA do to correct the problem?IKEA will examine the product and decide, at its sole discretion, if it is covered under this guarantee.
