Editorial Staff of Jurnal Perempuan were voluntarily involving to edit and write the articles.

1998-1999Yayasan Jurnal Perempuan started to recruit editorial staffs. Somehow, the recruitment was difficult since there were not many people who understood Gender Studies.

The distribution of Jurnal Perempuan faced many obstacles since people at that time were not interested in reading it.

Page 5: Since 1995

JP started to be famous when some of the editors were being jailed for Demonstration in Suara Ibu Peduli (Voice of Concerned Mothers).

As time goes by, people are interested in Jurnal Perempuan, especially in the content and substance of it, since then the publishing increased into 5000 copies.

Various sources and informations which are published by Jurnal Perempuan need to be transmitted to a broader society and should not be always dependent to donor institutions. Those are the reasons why Jurnal Perempuan also organizes public events, such as seminars, courses and public lectures in various areas in Indonesia.

Jurnal Perempuan is also being distributed through many networks to customers. The development of customers is also done by individual/institutional donation activity called Sahabat Jurnal Perempuan (Friends of Women Journal). Marketing division has an enormous role in this activity, especially in distributing the products, listing the readers, managing the donation and maintaining the relations with all of Jurnal Perempuan readers and friends.

JurnalProgram Sahabat Jurnal Perempuan (SJP) or in English called as Friends of Jurnal Perempuan Program is a form of individual and/or institutional donations to build social bond between Jurnal Perempuan and readers of Jurnal Perempuan.

Via SJP, that meet regularly, friends of JP could exchange thoughts, opinions, and strategies in developing women empowerment in multi-dimensional issues.

In this way, SJP is becoming a community-based discussion that meet regularly once in three months, so basically they meet four times a year that take place in friend’s house who is willing to host the meeting.

We build a network and strategize that friends of JP could become a social agent in sensitizing gender awareness as well as women’s right to achieve equal and just society in Indonesia.
