Omarsa, Sustainable Shrimp Exporter
Shrimp hatcheries
Our hatcheries, Tabasca, Mar Bravo and Punta Carnero, meetrequirements of recognized private international certifications.
Omarsa's hatcheries work with a selective breeding program basedon growth and resistance of the breeding stock.
The breeders are selected from our own shrimp farms in a closedcycle. There are no wild larvae allowed in the cycle.
There are two phases in this process: maturation (the actualbreeding of the shrimp) and larviculture (nursery of the shrimp).
There is no genetic manipulation involved in this process. There isan 100 % free of Eyestalk ablation (Regulation 834/EU/2007,Organic Standards).
Shrimp farms
Shrimp farmsOmarsa has three shrimp farms strategically located inareas which are known to be of high production yields. Wehave more than 3,600 hectares of farmed shrimp, locatedin estuarine zones (natural shrimp environment) during thejuvenile and pre-adults (commercial sizes). Since all thesesectors are under sea water influence, tides ensurerenovation of water avoiding stagnated waters.
The production systems have been carefully selected inorder to reduce the impact on the environment, havingimplemented certified systems in all our farms and organicstandards in Chongón and Puna.
All production sites are managed under a “zero” antibioticphilosophy, promoting the use of probiotics and naturalfertilizers.
All shrimp farms have quality of water analysis and healthmonitoring.
