As part of the 4000 IP series, it is designed for demanding SCADA and Telemetry applications (Oil/Gas, Utility Meter Reading and Security Monitoring). It is also ideal for wireless POS and ATM applications. Smart Connection Management The IP 4200 modem has "smart" programming so that it can initiate its own wireless data connection to the cellular network and complete the transfer of information. This feature allows for non-IP serial devices such as utility meters to be attached to the IP 4200 and eliminates the need for operator intervention or an attached computer. Embedded Microprocessor, Memory and Internet Protocol (IP) Stack The embedded microprocessor in the IP 4200 supports multiple "serial-over- IP" applications. Combining the ability to communicate with attached non- intelligent devices allows the modem to support more complex applications and specific customer solutions. Multiple Interfaces: Serial, USB & Ethernet The RS-232 (DB9) serial interface allows the IP 4200 to connect to any computer using a standard cable. The USB interface allows for connectivity to a like computing device using a standard USB adapter cable. Using a standard network adapter interface the BlueTree IP 4200 can connect to an Ethernet computing device. Inputs and Outputs for Remote Management and Event Reporting The analog inputs allow monitoring of gradient data sources such as temperature sensor and low voltage indication. The modem has an intuitive embedded Event Reporting Protocol that automatically formats the messages reported to the remote server. SCADA and Metering Support The IP 4200 is designed to offer real-time access, over the wireless internet, to remote terminal units such as meters and SCADA equipment. The modem performs packet assembly and disassembly (PAD) over UDP or TCP, enabling internet communication with field equipment with no TCP/IP capability.Serial IP supports multiple telemetry protocols, such as MODBUS RTU, and offers a high-reliability/low-latency bidirectional communication link to telemetry equipment. Seamless Migration from CDPD and Landline Communication The IP 4200 is ideal to migrate from CDPD and landline modems to the 3G cellular IP network. The 4200 is a drop-in replacement to the CDPD/landline modem without the need to reconfigure the terminal.
