The presence of vowels in the text (Lanes Arabic English Lexicon) b. Multi Language text ex. Arabic & Latin c. Different transliteration systems d. Metadata e. Names & Subjects Authorities

  • AMEELs New Four-Year Project Funded by NEH Syrian & Palestinian Gazettes Project, from 1919 to 1948 1. Palestinian Gazette: 40 reels and 5 supplemental vols.: 40,000 pages (rough estimate) 2. Syrian Gazette: 75 vols., 50,000 pages approximately Challenges: a. Paper conditions b. Creation of Metadata. c. OCR from Microfilm Ground total: around 110, 000 to 120,000 pages (Preliminarily count, Yale part only)
