Woody Allen by Boris Uan-Zo-li

Boris Uan-Zo-li was born in Moscow, Russia in 1938. His father was from the town of Odessa and worked as a civil engineer. His mother was half-Kosack and half-Chinese. His grandfather Wang Zo Li came to Russia in 1904. After the communist revolution Wang Zo Li adopted the Russian first name, but decided to keep his Chinese name. When a Russian bureaucrat was recording his name, he made a spelling error, and the last name became Uan-Zo-li. This mistake spawned the whole generation of Uan-Zo-lis.

Cat Kuzya in Paris by Boris Uan-Zo-li

Boris Uan-Zo-li was born in Moscow, Russia in 1938. During one of the exhibitions in the USSR his paintings were withdrawn from the gallery by the Soviet bureaucrats because they did not fit the communist vision. After the fall of communism, Boris’ paintings were shown at the Central House of the Artists, one of the most prestigious Russian centers of art. Boris’ paintings are now privately owned in Germany, Switzerland, France and the United States.

A lovely large wooden bowl made by Spencer Peterman. Spencer is keen on being green by using only downed trees. He is always on the lookout for fallen and rotting trees in the woods, especially the ones covered by moss and dirt, disfigured by the beginnings of decomposition. Turning that wood on a lathe produces strikingly unique bowls and other products.
