cement tracks located inside the national park. The park itself is developed by the local Peoples
Organization together with the Local Government.
Biak-na-Bato is a popular tourist destination in the Philippines.
From 1997 to 2004, Miriam-P.E.A.C.E. assisted in protected area management of Biak-na-Bato National Park through capacity-building of stakeholders, ecohistorical tourism and environmental education.
Five people’s organizations were organized and strengthened, bringing about their transformation from resource users to co-managers of the park.
Local guides and caterers were trained and provided with initial capital as they participated in community-based ecohistorical tourism that made Biak-na-Bato National Park to be the third highest earning protected area in the country.
Currently, Miriam-P.E.A.C.E., maintains 16 hectares of reforestation area in two parts of the park.

model in the Kaliwa Watershed that will serve as a
Window to the Sierra Madre.
