Marshall Plan 1 Rejected Photo

Picture that was accepted

We chose this picture because it shows how much money the United States gave to each European country after World War Two. The United States helped these countries build themselves back up. The United States is conflicting with Russia because Russia and their allies are not getting money from the United States because they are communism or supporting communism.

Cuban Missile Crisis

We chose this image to represent the Cuban Missile Crisis because it shows the two major conflicting ideologies during the Cold War: Communism vs. Capitalism. This picture also shows that Cuba or Fidel Castro is in the middle of the ideologies. The Cuban Missile Crisis was significant because it showed the U.S. and Russia escalating to brinkmanship. After they took a break or détente from nuclear weapons and just talked about their problems.

Tiananmen Square

This picture represents Tiananmen Square strongly because it shows the two ideologies literally going against each other in a struggle. The students are fighting for democracy and they are being seized by the soldiers because the government is communist and afraid of democratic uprising. It is important too because it showed the negative light on communism because the communists killed the student protesters.

Berlin Wall We chose this picture because it shows the different soldiers on each side of the Berlin Wall guarding their side, making sure that no one goes over the wall to the other side. On the side of the wall that Russia is on is communist and the other side of the is Capitalist because the rest of the world is on it, mostly U.S. France and Britain. This event is important because it involves the two main countries involved in the Cold War and it shows the conflicting ideologies of these countries.

Korean War We chose this picture because it shows the conflict between the North and South Koreans, and the conflict between the United States and Russia. The Korean War was a proxy war that the U.S. and Russia fought against each other using the Koreans as their pawns. This is significant because there are conflicting ideologies and both superpower countries are involved along with another country: Korea.

Creation Of NATO

We chose this picture for the Creation of NATO because it shows the Warsaw Pact which is the communist version of NATO. This picture shows were the NATO countries are located and the Warsaw Pact countries too. The Warsaw Pact was created as a result of NATO. Russia wanted defeat the democratic sphere of influence by creating something to stop it, the Warsaw Pact.

Vietnam War

The Vietnam War was fought in Vietnam, it was another war of ideologies: Communism vs. Capitalism. North Vietnam was fighting the South, the North was backed by the communist allies, and the South was backed by the United States and its allies. This war is significant to the Cold War because the people of the United States did not want their country to be apart of this war. It is also important because it involves conflicting ideologies: communism and capitalism. We chose this picture because it shows the people of the United States protesting against the country's involvement in the Vietnam War.
