Installation 1.1 Cabinet Mounting At Siemens BS241 II there are three types of cabinets: Base cabinet which is the main cabinet for Transmission. Extension cabinet which is dedicated also for transmission and is installed on the right of base cabinet. Service cabinet which is for batteries, rectifiers, links and is installed on the left of base cabinet. Types of the cabinets and at which order they must be installed is shown at Picture 1. 1. Installation

1.1 Cabinet Mounting At Siemens BS241 II there are three types of cabinets:

• Base cabinet which is the main cabinet for Transmission. • Extension cabinet which is dedicated also for transmission and is installed on the right of

base cabinet. • Service cabinet which is for batteries, rectifiers, links and is installed on the left of base

cabinet. Types of the cabinets and at which order they must be installed is shown at Picture 1. The cabinets have dimensions 1750 mm x 700 mm x 650 mm

1.2 Mounting Cabinets The cabinets are mounted on a special base.

• The screws that connect cabinets and the base to be properly tightened. (Picture 4) • A special flange must be installed at the hole between the two cabinets. (Picture 5) • 2 bars keep the two cabinets firmly tight with each other. (Picture 6)

1.3 AC Cables BS241 II takes AC voltage 3P-N-G as shown below

• Voltage 380VAC P-P/220VAC P-N • Fuse: 3x32A • Cable: 5x4mm2

1.4 Groundings Cabinets must be grounded with a wire 16mm2 from the special point at the lower part of each cabinet. Grounding points of the cabinets must also be connected with each other with the special bar.

1.5 Batteries We install 4 batteries, 12 VDC 92Ah each, so as a total output voltage is 48VDC. We can have more service racks for more batteries but to our installation we use only one. Batteries must be installed on the proper self and connected between each other with the bars. Exhausting pipes must also be installed. See the photo below. Connecting cables are 25mm2 and the breaker of -48VDC is 160A.

1.6 DC cables The DC cables are connected as the pictures below. They start from the dedicated point from DC panel, go through the hole between the cabinets and terminate at the upper part of Base rack.

At this point Base rack takes DC power. The rest two points are for extension racks.

1.7 2Mbps Cable 2Mbps cable is the normal 120 Ohm that we use for indoor sites. It starts from service rack, from dedicated krone, passes through flange between the 2 racks, goes through cable feeding module and arrives at ABIS termination point. Look the following pictures

Picture 18: Configuration of the pins of terminal ABIS connector. To the pins 5, 6, 11, 12, 17, 18, 23, 24 that are the groundings we connect nothing. We ground Abis cable only to RL cabinet.

1.8 Alarm cables Base rack can accept the same alarm module (ACTM) that is for indoor cabinets. As we do in BS240 we don’t use any special module but only the 7 positions that already exist. The difference here is that alarm termination point of Base rack remains empty. Only at service rack some alarms are already connected. These alarms are transferred to base rack through CAN Bus cable.

1.9 CAN Bus cable The can bus cable connects base rack with service and extension racks. It transfers the alarms from the other cabinets to the base cabinet. Base cabinet has no CAN IN but only CAN OUT. From CAN OUT of Base rack it goes to CAN IN of service cabinet 1. If only these two cabinets exist (Base rack and service rack) then at CAN OUT of Service rack one special terminating connector must be put. Else the terminating connector is installed at the last cabinet.

1.10 Heaters Service Cabinet has an AC distribution point. From that point all heaters of the racks take power and they are working when temperature is too low.

1.11 Antenna Line At BS241 FDUAMCO are at the lower part of the rack, unlike indoor version where are on top. We connect the jumpers at FDUAMCO and pass them below the cabinets as shown below.

2. Installing Link Units We can install link units inside service rack. The principles of installation are the same with RL cabinet installation.

2.1 Installing DC power IU takes power from the breakers BR01-BR08. The breakers are 10A and the cable 2x1.5mm2.

2.2 Installing Grounding Grounding cable is 16mm2. From the grounding point of IU lead the cable to one of the many grounding points of the cabinet.

2.3 Installing RG cable RG cable from IU goes to the lower part of Service cabinet

2.4 Installing 2Mbps 2Mbps cable is installed exactly the same as at shelter installations. Installer must take in consideration these topics.

• There isn’t much space for krone. Usually only 6 positions for krone are available. • One position, upper right (see picture 21) is for BTS. The other for IUs. • Due to the limited space only the 4 first PCM lines of each IU are installed, unless it is

asked otherwise. • Labeling remains the same.
