The months of March and April kept SIM members busy and on the go. On March 8, 2013 S
collaborated with SIG during the annual Soroptimist Charter Night held at the Sheraton Hotel. Co
gratulations to SIM member Mona McManus who did an outstanding job chairing this event from b
ning to end, which is no easy task given the amount of hours and work put into such an event from
seminating applications, coordinating the judging, and bringing the event together at Charter Night
celebration of Womens History Month. Did I mention that this is Monas first year with SIM? Tha

following: Guam Community College, University of Guam, Pacific Island University, Womans Opp

April was another busy month for SIM, as we adopted and painted the ERON Bus Stop in Sin
as part of an island wide beautification project sponsored by the Lt. Governors Office of Guam c
mitting SIM to a year of maintaining the bus stop. This was a project co-chaired by Jesrae Rabe an
President Lilly as part of SIMs commitment towards community service and public awareness. If y

But SIM didnt stop there. The month of April ended with 2 fundraisers, A Golf Tournament

Alegre, Loling Field, Wayne Santos, PPDave Beaver, Sec Arlene Taitingfong and Joyce Kraus).
Thank You to the SIGMA Society of UOG and SIM Member Eileen Agahan (SIGMA Advisor) for
teering your time and energy at STARTS Golf Course! SIM is in Gratitude for all the collaborative
and support you continue to provide in the name of Soroptimism.
SIM members were able to solicit 15 corporate hole sponsors (sponsorship at $500 each); 3 hole in
sponsors ($5000-$7600); 100 raffle prizes (ranging from hotel stays to a 55 flat screen TV and a routrip ticket). Ditty bags (cloth back pack) provided to participants had the Soroptmist general logo
on the bag with info inside to facilitate public awareness.Thank You to the members who donated t
time; played golf; solicited for sponsors, golfers and raffle prizes and put their greatest effort in ma

SIMs last 2 check presentations for the year was given to Relay for Life and VARO (Victims
Reaching Out). Relay for Life received a check in the amount of $250 presented at the April Guam
cil of Womens Club and VARO (Victims Advocate Reaching Out) received a check for $500 at the
Program Meeting held at Carmens Restaurant in Agana. Inducted during Aprils Program meetin
were: Dina McCreadie, Carmelita Gogue and Nida Rios Congratulations and Welcome Ladies!

SIMs last fundraising HOORAH for the year was ourFIRST Golf Tournament held on April 20th at Starts GolfCourse. Co-Chaired by PP Nancy Tan, PP Aileen Alfred& Jesrae Rabe. With the help of the wonderful committeemembers President Lillian Reyes, PP Nancy Tan, VPErlinda Alegre, Sec Arlene Taitingfong, Treasurer EmilyHernandez , PP David Beaver, Wayne Santos, JoyceKraus, the wonderful SIM familia and all our sponsorswe managed to raise over $8K for our beneficiaries!!!(please see special acknowledgements on last page)
April Program meeting was held at Carmens Restaurant!SIM inducted 3 new members: Dina McCreadie (sponsorPresident Lilly), Carmelita Gogue (sponsor is Dina/President Lilly) and Nida Rios (sponsor is RowenaMacaraig).
Thanks to all the SIM members for supportingour internal fundraiser for May Kay Cosmetics.
Sales were $502 donation to SIM was $100
