STANLEY HUMPHRIES SECONDARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER JANUARY 23, 2018
Parents / Guardians and Community Members,
Perhaps a little late but … Happy New Year!! Although winter still reminds us that we live in Canada and we can expect snow to continue to fall for some time to come … the days are getting longer and we’re seeing a little more sunshine too! Staff and students at SHSS continue to connect with their community through acts of kindness and giving, as demonstrated prior to the Christmas break and last week’s Fine Arts Performances (thanks Ms. Clark for all the amazing preparations!!). This fall Ms. McKay’s Family Studies 12 class completed a formal research project on the impacts of cell phones in the classroom. They presented this research and their recommendations to our staff and as outlined below, we are implementing a plan to support learning at SHSS starting semester 2. Our staff and students really do lead, achieve and succeed. With semester one quickly winding down, staff and students are wrapping up projects and course work in anticipation of term three and semester two getting started on Monday, January 29th. There are number of important dates and timelines for all students related to semester turn-around, the provincial exam sessions and several important dates specific to our grads. Please take a minute to review this important information. Once semester 2 is underway, it won’t be long before we begin the processes related to course selection! Please keep an eye out for that info. On behalf of the staff and students at SHSS, I wish our parents / guardians and community all the best in 2018! Principal D
