SocietyShri Shivaji Education Society, Amravati was established in 1932 by the "Shikshan
Maharshi" Late Dr. Punjabrao Alias Bhausaheb Desmukh who was then Cabinet Minister forAgriculture in the Ministry of Late Honourable Jawaharlal Nehru. He was great misionary whostarted the Educational Institutions for the upliftment of the aspiring students from rural areas.He renedered most valuable services in the field of education for the Masses of Vidarbha andMaharashtra. The Society runs (administers) about 248 educational institutions includingMedical, Engineering, Agriculture and colleges of other disciplines.
Our present president is Honorable Adv. Arunbhau Shelke. He is having vastadministrative experience. Head office of the society is located at Shivaji Nagar, Amravati.
Our college : A GlanceShri Shivaji College (Arts & Commerce) Amravati is the oldest Private college located on
the Morshi Road, Amravati.In order to provide and promote higher education to the aspiring students coming from
all walks of life. the founder president of Shri Shivaji Education Society Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukhestablished Shri Shivaji mahavidyalaya in the year 1946. Primarily Arts Faculty was started.
In 1947 the faculty of Commerce and the faculty of Law were opened. From 1956 thecollege started Post Graduate Course for the Commerece Faculty. In 1957 the Faculty of Scienceand in 1959 the Faculty of Science and in 1959 the Faculty of Agriculture were started and in1968-1969 these two Faculties were seperated into two Independent Colleges. Subsequently in1972-73 PG Classes in Economics were started. PG Classes for M.A. Political Science & MAEnglish were started in 1980-81. To encourage the reserach activity in pursuit of excellence in thefield of higher education the M. Phil courses in Economics & Commerece Faculty were started in1981-82.
In the year 2001-02 the Mass Communication i.e. BMC Crouse was started. In the year2003-04 MMC course was started. In the year 2007-08 PG in Geography & Home-Economic werestarted alongwith that Music as a optional subject for BA was also started in the some academicsession. In 2008-09, B.com Part-I (English Medium) course was started. Our college is makingprogress as per the Demand of the Present Higher Educational Policies. College has completedtwo cycles of NAAC accredidation.

11) Students not already enrolled in Amravati University will have to pay theUniversity Enrollment Fee at the time of admission.
12) Students having grievances should seek help from principal and officesuperintendent.
13) Students seeking provisional admission should inform the office and regularizetheir admissions.
14) Students should follow rules of college regarding sport fees.15) Those whose parents annual income is less than Rs. 15000/- are declared as
Economically Backward. Their fees are reimbursed by the state Government.However the students have to apply in the prescribed form (to be obtainedfrom the college) together with the income certificate signed by Revenue officer(not below the rank of Tahshildar) and an attested true copy of the marksheetof the qualifying examination immediately after she/he is admitted to thecollege E.B.C. concessions shall be finally decided at the end of the session onthe basis of regular attendance and Caste Verficiation (For B.C. Students).Backward Class students are required to get their Caste Certificate Certifiedby the Competent authority.

1) Students Co-operative Store : Students co-operative store is opened to availbooks and stationary for the students in cheaper rates.
