Merchandising matters. The way in which products are organized and displayed in a showroom makes a difference in whether or not they are seen and purchased. Similarly, the ways in which customers are treated makes a difference in whether they leave empty-handed—or whether they make a purchase, share news of their great experience with others, and come back again.
Before we do anything else, we’d like to say thank you for making this segment of our business one of the most exciting and fast-growing. To keep that momentum rolling, we’ve put together this guide (which we’ve thoughtfully filled with tools and resources that can make any showroom more engaging and successful).
In the pages that follow, you’ll find tips designed to improve any showroom experience, to display products in more attention-getting ways, and to create events calculated to pull even more customers into a business. Along the way, you’ll also see quite a few planograms: suggestions on showing wares in their best light.

Creating a Better Environment
• Begin at the beginning . People get their first impression of a showroom from the outside. Make sure exterior signage is attractive, has a strong visual appeal, and sets the tone for what customers will find inside.
• Organize the room . A cluttered, unfocused room can frustrate patrons. Make sure products are grouped together in categories.
• Include focal points . When you want customers to focus on a particular product (or product collection), create a small, stand-alone display to highlight it.
• Keep your showroom current . A full 60% of Delta® kitchen and bath collections have received style updates within the last five years. Does your wall reflect that change with brand enhancements?
• Create a pleasant sensory experience . Put customers at ease with soft music, plush seating, snacks, pleasant public restrooms, or even aromatherapy. The more time people spend in the showroom, the more likely they are to buy.
• Provide literature and/or videos . Some customers (especially those who would rather not talk to a sales associate right away) like to educate themselves on products and technologies first, before engaging in conversation.

Product Display Guidelines
• Group collections together . If the showroom has more than one product from a certain collection, the collection should be placed together. It helps sell matching products, and saves customers the trouble of searching the showroom for them.
• Dust . Often.
• Straighten displays . After a day of activity, be sure that all collections are together.
• Highlight new products . New and impressive products should be given a place of honor, in a display area near the front door.
• Help customers visualize the product in use . When possible, create “lifestyle vignettes” that resemble actual home environments (and include coordinating accessories to promote product suites and add-on sales opportunities).
• Check the pods . Be sure to replace any components that may have disappeared (such as handles, lift rods, showerheads, etc.)
• Keep the visual environment fresh . If displays never change, customers will begin to overlook them—and the showroom itself.
• Don’t overcrowd displays . Make sure all models are clearly visible, and not jammed together.
• Place products strategically . Be sure products are placed at a level where people can see and touch them. Customers come to a showroom to get an experience they can’t get online—a physical interaction with the actual product.
• Graphics add interest . If space permits, use graphic displays (found on pages 17–30 of the Delta® Product Display Assets Catalog) to attract consumers’ attention.
• Make sure all product is well-lit . If the room has adjustable overhead lighting, place it so that products are attractively highlighted. If there is no overhead lighting, consider lighting product from below, with spotlights—or at least moving it nearer to an existing light source—even if it’s a window.

Events
• Gather new leads . Consider offering random giveaways at events, which require guests to provide their names and (at minimum) email addresses. That information can then be used to notify them of new products and future showroom events.
• Encourage guests to subscribe to e-newsletters. Provide them with regular notifications of new products and trends.
• Drive showroom traffic with special events . Consider using the space to host casual community get-togethers, such as food tastings, cooking demonstrations or even charity fundraisers. Encourage local media to publicize such events (and promote the event on social media, such as Twitter,® Facebook® and Instagram®).
• Special events should be a party, not a sales pitch . All a showroom needs to do is create a fun event where people can relax with friends. If the room is set up properly, it will sell quietly without help.
• Entice event guests to all parts of the showroom . Food and drink stations placed strategically throughout the room can accomplish this.

• Offer a constructive learning experience . Delta Faucet Company offers many seminars and events that qualify for continuing education credits. Email us at deltachannel@deltafaucet .com to explore the possibility of scheduling an in-person course at your office location.
• Create benefits for your audience . Showrooms may wish to invite respected speakers to their business, to lecture on topics of interest to designers, remodelers and trade professionals.
• Ambience is everything . As with consumer events, use music and refreshments to create a fun, inviting atmosphere.
