Issue 1 - 2017/2018
AGM UPDATE At the AGM Club President Nick Newton thanked members
for keeping our beach and the public safe, in another breach free
season where we met all of our required contractual obligations.
Nick gave special thanks to:
• Club Captain Simon Lovell and Vice-Captain Richard Taylor for
managing our patrols and implementing improvements to patrol
operations and rescue and medical equipment
• Our successful “Ducks for Dollars campaign which raised over
$4,000
• The Beach Hotel raffles team which ensures we are now
represented every week at the “Beaches” – so we are making money
and importantly keeping a good sponsor happy
• The members involved in the Beach Day experience we ran in
conjunction with St Vincent de Paul
Two particular achievements mentioned were the kitchen
renovations, and the plans afoot to refurbish and extent the
current premises.
Your membership renewal is now due for the 2017-2018 season.

CREATING A CULTURE OF SAFETY
Creating a culture of Safety requires clear commitment from all
members. SLS exists as a lifesaving organisation, and as a result
we have to endeavour to assure the very highest standards of health
and safety for all volunteers and staff, as well as anyone else
that may be affected by what we do. Health and Safety (H&S) is
managed under the relevant legislation, and everyone has a duty to
comply with H&S practices - by taking reasonable care of his or
her own H&S and that of others whilst carrying our surf club
duties. H&S is not a separate issue to be managed, but is an
integral part of all lifesaving activities.
SLS ultimate goal is to promote a culture where all members
understand that SAFETY COMES FIRST!

Surf clubs here:
