Dobrodošli v shopping!
V Ljubljani je nakupovanje nadvse prijetno, saj se sprehajate po mestnih ulicah in obiskujete trgovine trgovskih verig in domačih znamk kot tudi prisrčne majhne butike – skratka, sladokusno staromodno. Večino trgovin najdete na ulicah okoli Ljubljanice, zaradi česar je Ljubljana prav gotovo eno naših najljubših nakupovalnih mest v Evropi.
Glavni nakupovalni ulici v centu mesta sta Mestni in Stari trg ob vznožju grajskega hriba, poleg tega pa se sprehodite še po Trubarjevi, Wolfovi in Miklošičevi ulici na nasprotni strani reke.
Če pa imate raje vzdušje nakupovalnih središč, se odpravite v BTC City, ki ga najdete nekaj kilometrov od centra kot tudi na poti v Maribor. Poleg velikanskega nakupovalnega središča (BTC City) tam najdete tudi veliko outlet trgovin, ki se lahko zdijo kot skladišča, kot tudi vodni park in zabaviščno središče.
One of the great things about Ljubljana is the fact that you can shop the old-fashioned way: strolling the city centre’s streets, ducking in and out of any number of high street stores, local brands and cute little boutiques. A number of stores have locations on the streets that abut the river, making this - if we’re honest - one of our favourite shopping cities in Europe.
The main shopping streets in the city centre are Mestni and Stari Trg at the base of Castle Hill, Trubarjeva, Wolfova Ulica and Miklošičeva on the opposite bank. There are also plenty of stores in the grid of streets between Slovenska Cesta and the river.
If you like want a mall experience however, head out to BTC City, a couple of kilometers from the city centre on the road to Maribor. Besides an enormous mall (City Park) there are also a number of warehouse-like outlets stores, as well as a water park and entertainment city.

Vračilo davkaČe ste prebivalec države, ki ni članica EU, imate pravico, da izkoristite možnost neobdavčenihnakupov med bivanjem v Sloveniji. V vsaki trgovini z znakom »Global Refund Tax Free«, kjer zapravite več kot 50,00 €, vam lahko ob plačilu izdajo poseben Global Refund ček. V trgovinah, ki niso uradno vključene v ta program, boste morali prositi za poseben račun za tujce – še vedno lahko uveljavljate vračilo, le da je malo več birokracije. If you’re a resident of a non-EU member state, you’re eligible to take advantage of tax free shopping while visiting Slovenia. If you spend over €50 at any shop displaying the Global Refund ‘Tax Free’ logo, they can issue you with a special Refund Cheque when you pay. At shops that don’t officially participate in the program, you’ll need to ask for a special invoice for foreigners - you can still get the refund, it just involves a little more red tape. When you leave the EU just show the item you purchased and relevant paperwork to a customs official, who will give you the necessary stamps. You can then receive cash or credit at any of the many Global Refund Offices around the world - at Ljubljana’s Brnik airport this is located at the news agents in the check-in area. However, before making any extravagant purchases assuming you’ll receive a 20% discount, make sure to double-check your departure info, especially if you have a layover in another EU country on your way home. Not all customs offices are open 24 hours, so depending on the time and length of your layover, it may be next to impossible to get the official stamps you need.

Would you describe yourself as an avid shopper?Since I have three children I would rather say I am shopper because of necessity.
What are your favourite Slovenian souvenirs to buy for friends and family?There are many beautiful things you can buy in Slovenia, but the best thing you can give your friends and family is to convince them to come to our beautiful country and enjoy the experience, hopefully with you.
Do you prefer the old town shopping experience in the cit y center or the convenience of the newer retail districts on the city’s outskirts?Depends what is the occasion, if you know what you need then retail district can be more convenient, but if you just feel like shopping then wandering around the city center of Ljubljana can be magnificent.

Can you recommend any good places to shop in Slovenia outside of the capital Ljubljana?You can find great places to shop all over Slovenia, in Maribor, Celje, Koper, Kranj and Postojna. What is even better, is that you can wander through all the interesting cities of Slovenia.

When the weather’s nice the entire old town is abuzz with activity at the pavement cafés that line nearly every street. During the colder months things move indoors, but thanks to the national smoking ban you’re still apt to find a fair amount of patrons outside huddled under heat lamps and blankets puffing away on coffee’s significant other. The most popular places can be found along the Ljubljanica on Cankarjevo Nabrežje and Petkovškovo Nabrežje on the opposite bank, but with so many options to choose from just wandering around until you find a place you fancy is never a bad option.
