You can modify module

settings in the System >

Configuration > Catalog

> Shop By Brands

section.

2. General Extension Settings


Here you can select an attribute to

be used further in “shop by

attribute” functionality. Please note

that this should be a single-select

attribute (means that it can have

only one value chosen).

”Manufacturer" attribute is used by

magento to identify brand. Please

select this attribute to set up “Shop

By Brands” functionality. To edit the

attribute or enable “Shop by

attribute” functionality for the

attribute please go to Catalog >

Attributes >Manage Attributes.

Please make sure you have filled

the values for the attribute chosen.

When choosing the attribute the

extension will work with please also

make sure that the attribute has at

least one of the settings enabled:

Use in Layered Navigation or

Use In Advanced Search or

Use In Search Results Layered

These are the “Shop By” settings

for attribute chosen. They are

displayed on Shop By tab when

editing the attribute from Catalog >

Attributes >Manage Attributes.

You can create new brand

(attribute) pages one by one

manually or press the "Fill

Out Brands Pages" button to

create default blank pages

for all existing

Please note that you can

create separate brand

(attribute) pages for each

store view


6. Editing Brand (Attribute) Description

For each attribute you can edit

meta-tags, URL key, upload

logos, and change page layout

You can upload any

images you like, no

size restrictions.

Please choose “Yes” if

you want to display brand

in the featured block

URL key should be unique

within brands, categories

and products. The module

creates Rewrite Rule for

each brand.


7. Refreshing Cache Magento uses cache heavily, so its

absolutely necessary to flush all

cache when you are done with

brands' pages modifications

If “Include In Navigation Menu”

is set to “Yes” in “Shop By”

attribute settings (See Page 6 for

details) the list of brands

(attribute values) is displayed on

front end > navigation menu.


9. Front-End: All Brands (Attributes)

A new sidebar block is available right after

the module activation. It displays links to

brands (attribute) pages.

You can manually set sort order and limit

the number of brands (attribute values)

displayed.

The block can show brands (attributes)

with products only and brands from

current category only.

To move block from the right sidebar,

please change “left” to “right” in the

layout/aitmanufacturers.xml file.

A new page with the list of all

brands grouped by name (with

the number of brand products

in brackets) becomes available.

A new "Featured Brands"

block becomes available


10. Front-End: Brand (Attribute) Page - Product List

Customers can browse products

within brands by categories. They

can also use layered navigation (if

enabled in settings for this

attribute (manufacturer in this

case)).

The module

displays all

brand's products

with paging and

sorting

Admin can modify brand's

description as well as

brand's logo using built-in

WYSIWYG editor


11. Front-End: Product Page

A link (or a clickable

logo) to the brand's

page becomes available

on product's page
