Do you doubt your abilities? Do you feel you don't have anything to offer? YOU'RE WRONG! Read 2 Peter 1:3-4. Peter tells us that, "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us His very great and precious prom- ises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and es- cape the corruption in the world caused by evil desire." If we have every- thing we need, then there is nothing we are lacking. However we can't just start without preparing for His works. Notice it states "through our knowledge of Him." Peter continues in verse 5, "For this reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to persever- ance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kind- ness, love." He gives a progression of maturity to help us grow in our service to Him. No longer doubt yourself, but know that God has given each of us everything we need to serve Him. Serving God, Barry

Announcements
Ladies Wednesday morning Bible study is a seasonal class from September through the second week of May each year. We will resume that class at 10:00 am on September 6th. Our first class is organizational for the year and will have a lesson on "worry and fear". The next week will begin our study of I Corinthians. Please make plans to join us in the Multi-Purpose Room at the back of the building.
Singing in the Clouds will be Saturday, September 16th this year at the Queens R.V. Park behind the restau-rant. Bill Phillips will be cooking the brisket so bring a side dish or dessert to share. Dinner will be at 5:30 pm with mountain top singing afterwards. Many of our members bring their R.V.’s and ATV’s and stay for the whole weekend and all are invited to do so. This is a special time of worshiping and bonding for our members so make plans now to attend. If you have any questions or would like to help in any way please contact Virgil Smith at 575-302-1413. Orlando Ortiz has volunteered to drive a van, so if you would like a ride please call the office at 575-887-1278.
Our Blessing Box is a huge success! We need your help in keeping it stocked so if you could bring canned goods, pasta, or anything that is non-perishable and put it in the red tub in the foyer it would be greatly appreciated.
Our annual Youth Rally will be Saturday, September 9th here at the building. Our speaker will be Joshua Wat-kins. Bruce needs YOUR HELP especially this year as he recovers. The following are areas of need: 1. Gale McDowell needs help making Mexican Stack-Ups.
2. We need canopies as some of the games will be outside. 3. Volunteers to serve the food. 4. Volunteers to setup and cleanup. 5. Volunteers to help run the games. All Sunset Youth Kids need to be here at 3:00 pm to help set up games. Last year we had the biggest youth rally of the season and Bruce expects that to continue this year. We had over 100 kids not counting the adults, from all over the Pecos Valley. If you can help in any way please call or text Bruce at 575-706-8354.
All ladies are invited to a Come and Go Diaper and Wipe Baby Shower in honor of Martha Huereque on Satur-day, September 23rd at the home of Jim & Mary Hughes (1419 W Orchard Ln) from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Martha is expecting a boy.
There will be a Ministry Fair on Sunday, September 24th. Please mark your calendars and plan on discovering areas of God's work for your participation.
Join us in a birthday celebration for Cecil Waldrop who is 90 years young! Celebration party is at the Leo Sweet Center (1302 Mission Avenue) from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Saturday, September 16th. Come and Go or bring your musical instruments and stay and play awhile! His life motto has been, “Live as long you want to, and want to as long as you live!” If you cannot make the party and would like to send a card, or send a memory about Cecil please send to Cecil Waldrop % Carol McGilvray, 2201 Foothill Road, or Johnny Waldrop, 403 Queen Hwy. No gifts please.
Mark your calendar for the Sunset Ladies Retreat. Ladies Retreat will be October 13th-15th at Mountain View Christian Camp. The theme for this year is Arise and Shine. More information will be coming in the next couple of weeks.
