HISTORY:Shazam's progress accelerated with the launch of the Apple's App StoreShazam launched on the Android platform in October 2008. The Android app connected to Amazon's MP3 store instead of iTunes

The app launched on the Windows Mobile app store in October 2009

GetJar, an app store for Android, Blackberry and Symbian, added Shazam in November 2010In January 2011, Shazam and Spotify announced a partnership for iOS and Android While Shazam already had Facebook and Twitter share buttons, deeper Facebook integration was released in March 2011

MARKETING:1.SHAZAM has evolved into a global solution for MUSIC and MEDIA industry by connecting more than 250 million people, in more than 200 countries in 33 languages.2. Enabled people to use Shazam free and unlimited just not only for music, but also for TV shows and television advertising.This freemium version was ad supported and revenue stream was de-emphasised here,which led to more usage and hence revenue generation through ads and huge publicity due to open source nature.3.To reach out the people who wanted ad-free experience, premium service was introduced(Shazam Encore) which in turn generated revenue. Thus it maintanced a nice balance between its open source and paid nature,both of which was a good marketing strategy.4. SHAZAM FOR TV5.Partnership:Shazam boasts that it is responsible for the sale of one-in-10 music tracks in the United States--400,000 a day--and makes money from referral fees from digital-download retailers such as iTunes and Amazon. And, impressively, the company has successfully forged partnerships with just about every major player in online streaming, managing to be a neutral player while making deals with Rdio, Spotify, Beats, Deezer, and Google Play.

3.CONSTANT EVOLUTION

In 2014, Shazam began working with a company called Digimarc, which scans objects, such as a bar code or DVD case, essentially doing what a QR code does--without the QR code. Visually Shazamming something, again, can lead the consumer to any website on their mobile device. The digital investments with their real-world investments-PERFECT cross-channel advertising.

CONCLUSION:Thus Shazam is a revolution in the media industry due to its easy-to-use nature,accurate search results and a perfect platform for other products to gain popularity. These are the factors which has led it to convert from a simple idea to a billion dollar entity.
