Perry Duryea Suffolk State Office Building Combined Heat and Power Project

• Project Facts

Fuel Cell and Engine generator supplying heat and partial power to the building during normal operation and during prolonged utility outages

Engine Generator is supplying heat to boiler loop and supplying power to primarily offset electric demand for chillers

Fuel Cell is supplying heat to domestic hot water loop and supplying power to base load of building

Impact on NYPA operations/processes

• Supported Statewide Project Engineers in the White Plains

Office with project management, specifically helping them

meet project deliverables and schedules

• By reviewing energy calculations for a project over $5 million

at the 30% design phase it will help expedite NYPA Energy

Efficiency Engineering review at the 90% design phase

Overall Experience

• Bridge the gap between theoretical study and the “real”

world

• Exposure to practical Engineering problems

• Importance of Networking
