Frequently asked questionsHow popular are WildSmiles Braces®? A recent independent study completed by The Ohio State University, published in the AJO-DO and cited in the 5th edition of “Contemporary Orthodontics,” found in the age groups of 9-11 and 12-14 the appliance selected most frequently as the number one choice is some variation of WildSmiles brackets, at 44 percent. Acceptance for WildSmiles is 70 percent in the 9-11 age group; 25 percent higher than other appliance options.

Do patients switch mid-treatment? No. WildSmiles patients are happy with their choices and understand it is a fixed appliance. Patients identify with their choice; a football player loves his sport. Hearts are perfect for a little girl born on Valentine’s Day. A ‘star’ stays a star. Soccer players are born and girls always love flowers. Changing elastic colors at monthly appointments allows added individuality.

What about hygiene? Some doctors have suggested that patients demonstrate better hygiene with WildSmiles. Unlike traditional mini-twin braces, WildSmiles bracket pads extend beyond the tie wings, ensuring any plaque accumulation will rest on the pad surface and not the tooth. WildSmiles are no more prone to decalcification than any other bracket. We rec-ommend a fluoride rinse for all orthodontic patients.

Are WildSmiles easy to identify and place? WildSmiles bracket placement and identification is easy and very similar to traditional twin brackets. The mesial gingival tie wing has the number 1, 2 or 3 inscribed and the distal tie wing has a dot inscribed. To accurately place the bracket you must identify the vertical mark that runs in-cisal to gingival on the bracket (not the pad) between the mesial and distal wings. The vertical mark should run along the long axis of the tooth. The slot height should be placed as you would in your bracket system.

Can I use WildSmiles with my regular bracket system? WildSmiles are offered for any combination of the the maxil-lary anterior teeth. They can be placed U3-3, U2-2 or U1-1 to accommodate phase 1 treatment. If bonding a comprehensive case, bond U3-3 or U2-2 and WildSmiles blend seamlessly with all major bracket systems, including self-ligating, to produce the same excellent results.

How many sets should be ordered?The average doctor keeps an inventory of 10 sets of each design. Brackets can be ordered in sets of U3-3, U2-2, U1-1 or individual brackets. Many doctors take advantage of our quan-tity discount options. Each practice should determine what is best for them.

How is inventory organized?Inventory management with WildSmiles is simple. Inventory is organized in the clinic with clear boxes that easily identify the brackets shape and tooth number. Customer service representatives are always available to assist clients organize efficient ordering and inventory plans.

What do they cost? Can I charge more? WildSmiles braces are priced similarly to other aesthetic brackets. Most practices do not charge patients extra; how-ever, some practices charge $150 for WildSmiles. Orthodontic practices may request a custom quote by calling toll free 855-398-WILD (9453).

How are WildSmiles made?WildSmiles are low profile twin brackets designed and manu-factured in the USA from surgical grade stainless steel using the Metal Injection Mold (MIM) process. WildSmiles brackets, along with our design and manufacturing processes, exceed the highest standards in strength, quality, aesthetics and comfort. Our brackets are CE accredited and accepted by the FDA, ISO and other governing and consumer safety groups.
