TILAPIA FISH FARMING Even the Ancient Egyptians farmed tilapia in ponds along the Nile and small scale tilapia farming is still an important source of protein for many families around the world. Large scale commercial farming can be problematic due to the rapid production of offspring that will compete for food with the adult fish, but several techniques have now been developed to combat that problem. The fish can for instance be kept in densely stocked tanks or cages, since this disrupts reproduction in tilapia. The four species of tilapia most commonly grown as food fish in aquaculture are Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), Blue tilapia (Oreochromis aureus) and Mozambique Tilapia (Oreochromis mossambicus). Today, hybrids of these species – sometimes with genetic material from other species as well – are popular as well. Even though tilapia has been utilized as food in Africa and the Levant for thousands of years, it would take until the 20th century before the tasty tilapia really caught on outside this region. In the 1940s, tilapia farming commenced in Asia and this is still where you will find a majority of the major tilapia producing countries in the world. By the end of the century, China, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand and the Philippines produced over 75 percent of the worldwide aquaculture production of tilapia. During recent years, several Latin American countries have taken an interest in tilapia farming, including Mexico, Brazil, Columbia and Costa Rica. Over 95 percent of the global tilapia supply is imported to the United States where tilapia is an appreciated food fish. The import of tilapia to Europe is believed to increase significantly in the near future as more and more consumers are looking for suitable to alternatives to white fish fillets due to environmental concerns. NETS

Badinotti, as one of the major net suppliers, uses the most modern machinery offering a wide range of knotless netting in nylon, polyester, polypropylene, and polyethylene for aquaculture application. Our European production sites can boast a large production capacity, offering therefore excellent delivery times, thanks to the midland location in Europe. Badinotti’s Netlofts are able to produce both handily and automatic machine sewing type, using the best and modern technology in the market. The whole Badinotti nets production as well as manufacture and assembling of cages for aquaculture are subjected to rigorous quality tests, whose validity and procedures applied are grant by the recent ISO 9001 and NS9415 certifications.Badinotti can supply completed anti-predator and birdnet protection, made with Polyethylene, Nylon, Polypropilene, Poliester and Dynema. Furthermore nets are provided by a special collar panel in the waterline to avoid the spread out of the floating feed made with a nylon 4mm netting.Net are provided with or without antifouling treatment.

CAGES

The floating cages for Tilapia farming are traditionally built with HDPE pipes. A couple of 200mm pipes and thickness of 11,9mm in the walkway and singler 90/110mm pipe in the handrail (in alternative a small steel pipe). Cage is supported by perimetric tenchions made with hot dip galvanized steel or HDPE.

Traditional cages dimensions are the following: 50 meters in circumferenceif circular and 6x6 meters if square.

STENCHIONS INSULATED TUBS

MOORING EQUIPMENT

Stingray special anchors

Badinotti Group may also provide single stenchions or brackets made with hot dip galvanized steel or HDPE, for the cage assembly.

Insulated containers with double walls filled with foam PUR (polyurethane closed cell) to ensure better durability and preservation of cold. The insulation factor of R-19 with which they are built, maintained for longer time the solid ice: 85% of storage after 10 days at temperatures of +21°C. Insulated containers are available in smaller volumes in the marine sector dedicated to professional use.

The drag anchors are the most popular type of anchoring device available today. This type of anchor is designed to penetrate the seabed, either in whole or in part.

The ability to drag and the sinking is still generated by the resistance of the soil, which is opposed to the motion of sinking it. Dragging anchors, such as Stingray, are particularly suited to resist large horizontal loads, but not for large vertical loads.

Anchors for sandy or muddy sea bottom, always stocked in our warehouse, from 500 to 1000 kg. SM12 model with a weight ranging from 150 kg to 1000 kg with max loads required from 19.3 to over 68 tons, is particularly suitable for bottoms of sand and/or mud.

The Blue Deep Badinotti Group ’s brand aquaculture line includes most of the fish farming mooring equipment that each farmer needs, likes: anchors, new and used chains, shackles, ropes, etc. The Italian stock warehouse give you the possibility to satisfy your order request in 24/48 h. Badinotti can supply ready for use mooring line including rope spliced with thimble, ring and mooring shackle.

FLOATING PONTOONS

Floating piers made of high density polyethylene, and therefore maintenance free. Any joining equipment between pipes, so it can be possible built pontoon hundreds meters long interruptions free.

NAVIGATIONAL BUOYS

Navigational Buoys for boundary licensed area or marine danger alert, completed of IALA certified marine lanterns. The buoys can be supplied both in painted steel or in Roto-moulded Polyethylene.

POLYETHYLENE BOATS

Special designing boats, made entirely of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), a virtually indestructible material and maintenance free. Available in 5 mt and 7,5 mt overall lenght.
