A Message from the Principal

We cried, we celebrated, we were inspired. These were thefeelings and emotions that encapsulate these past few daysas we commemorated Yom HaZikaron and celebrated YomHa'atzmaut.

Below you can read detailed descriptions of the events thattook place on both days here at HANC High School. As I toldthe students this morning, I could not have been prouder ofthe manner in which they demonstrated hakarat hatov toHashem for the miracles that He performed, and paid tributeto the soldiers, both past and present, who put their lives onthe line every day all to ensure that we have Medinat Yisrael, our Jewish homeland. The joy, pride, and achdut we felt wereexhilarating! I'd like to personally thank the following families for sponsoring all Yom Ha'atzmaut activities inthe high school: Fein, Fellus, Maryles, Lifschutz, and Kaufman. Please read below for theirdedications.

In addition, I would like to wish a Mazal Tov to our Valedictorian, Ari Levine and our co-Salutatorians, Rhonda Traub and Naomi Liviem. Each of them, in their own unique way, personifies excellence as scholars, leaders, and ba'alei middot. We are so proud of them.

Speaking of pride, we congratulate Michael Rosner, one of only five recipients of the AlisaFlatow Memorial Scholarship Fund. Michael was chosen from hundreds of applicants and, incredibly, this marks the third consecutive year that a HANC student was bestowed thisprestigious honor. No other yeshiva or day school can make this claim!

I conclude by wishing Mazal Tov to our Admissions Director, Mrs. Miriam Steiner and herhusband, Adam upon the birth of a son this past week. And, finally, a huge yasher koach to ourvarsity boys' soccer team as they advance to the Final Four of the MYSHAL championshiptournament.

As is done in Israel on this day, a two-minutesiren was sounded during which we felt thesolemnity of the day, remembering fallen soldiers. For the conclusion of the program, the entirehigh school stood for Hatikvah, Israel's National Anthem, reminding us of our dedication toMedinat Yisrael.
