Dear Friends,
Today at St. Lawrence we will have a religious brother from the Marists to speak on their missionary work and the important work of the Propagation of the Faith, and there will be a second collection. Next week a missionary will visit Sacred Heart to appeal there as well. Please be as generous as you can.
"<++?**++Z>']*K~?!>++Z?>]%K*!$*??!K~!KK?++"Z?>]K$*+?*+Z>>]*K>*?*because that is the way to salvation.
That is the heart of missionary work in the Church. We all grew up learning of the heroic missionar-ies of old like St. Francis Xavier, who brought the message of Jesus to pagan peoples around the world.
Today is Pentecost Sunday~+)>>and sent them out into the world as witnesses of Jesus Christ. He gave them the power and the courage to go forth.
The Church is by her very nature missionary, because Jesus himself told us to “go forth to all the $>'!??K;)>]?!Z]$*+*<K*
Today, we face the sad reality that many of the places that were long traditionally Christian and Catholic countries no longer are such, due to secularization and decline in passing on the faith to new generations.
"?*+*+Z?]+*-selves are the missionaries sent forth.
Today all of us must be missionaries in our own families, in our neighborhoods, in our workplaces, **+K*Z>]*"N$our witness of a true Catholic lifestyle that is obedient to what Jesus said and did. And then we do $*+KK!**!*~*Z*K]
And we need to pray the Holy Spirit come upon all of us Catholics and send us out as to our world today. It is no longer something just for specialized missionaries in far off countries, but for every Catholic to do.
Who is it that you can reach with the Gospel? Who needs you to be a better missionary? Just look **~>?****+
God bless,
Fr. Richard Gill

On Wednesday, May 29th, the Early Childhood Learn-ing Center had a Teddy Bear Picnic. Every child was able to bring their teddy bear to school! All of the teddy bears experience a morning at pre-school. Each bear had their own teddy bear holder which was made out of brown grocery bags and was decorated by each child. The teddy bears hung off of the backs of chairs in their holders in the classroom while the children were busy learning their ABC’s! Then, when it was time to attend the picnic, each teddy bear was hand carried by each child to the gym where the picnic took place. The children and their teddy bears started the picnic off singing the song “Teddy Bear, %=]!>%and their teddy bears listened to a teddy bear story. Finally, the children and their teddy bears enjoyed a delicious picnic of Teddy Grahams, Honeycombs and watermelon. Yummy!

A few weekends ago, the Alpha Marriage Program wrapped up its second year with 10 couples completing the seven week program. Phyllis & Vincent LaRusso along with Lynn and Chris Sherman are facilitators for this program and this year had four additional couples from the previous program assist them with the preparation for this years couples.
Each week the couples were warmly greeted with a wonderful dinner, wine and beverages and sat at their intimate candle lit table for two where they watched a different video each week on many different topics pertaining to their marriage.
The couples all enjoyed this special date night out that gave them the opportunity to focus on many of those issues that they normally don’t get to discuss at home.
Direct quotes from the program included:
“It gave us the opportunity to spend time with each other every week and to be reminded that *?!?>]

It is important for everyone to have a will in order to insure your assets are directed according to your intentions and that every-thing is clear when you go back to God. Many people distribute what they have among loved ones and also generously leave a portion of their assets to the parish.
You can leave a gift to build up the future of your parish (St. Law-rence or Sacred Heart) with a bequest in your will. Some people leave a percentage such as 10% of their estate to the church, and
Previous generations of Catholics built up the church we inherited... leave your legacy for the Catholics to come after us.
