Save the Date! Music Department News The 2016/17 academic year has got off to a good start for the music department. The Autumn concert was a success showcasing the talents of our pupils as well as staff, one of the highlights being Miss Cullen playing solo piano from her grade 3 exam which is coming up; good luck!! Thank-you to all friends & family who came and supported us for this evening, it means a lot to our performers. The department also spent the evening on Halloween at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall for a live performance of Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. This is one of the prescribed set works on the new A-level specification, so there is no better way than watching this masterpiece with a live orchestra in action. As well as this, our students picked up on some valuable information before hand with the pre-concert talk by Dr Ruth Doughty; who is a member of the faculty of the Liverpool Screen School at John Moores University. The choir is making good preparation for the annual college music for Advent & Christmas service. I do hope many of you can join us for what is a musical highlight on the college calendar. May I also take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support each year towards the department and to wish you all a relaxing and peaceful Christmas. Mr D.
