“SFEROPRATIC SYSTEM®” MODULAR BALL FLOATING FLOOR

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

The exclusive modular raised floor with metallic balls surface system called “Sferopratic system®” (Italian and International patent pending) is an extremely tough modular raised floor, built to withstand over 5000 kg/m2 (1,000 psf) over time without deformation for the manual handling, transferring and storage of 463L pallets. Conceived, designed and built primarily for the manual handling and long term storage of air pallets and containers used for transport of goods, weapons, ammunition, explosives and other materials in special warehouses, hangars, bunkers, etc., it can also be used anywhere the manual handling of extremely heavy loads with a rigid flat support is required. The "Sferopratic system®" is currently produced in

three types, of which Type 3 is particularly suitable for the handling and storage of NATO standard pallets type 463L used by the U.S. armed forces and other armed forces as well as ULD AIR CONTAINERS and PALLETS type PMC or similar used for air cargo transport. The use of the "Sferopratic system®” allows for: Reduced staff for manual handling (one or two

people can easily move the type 463L pallet or ULD AIR CONTAINER and PALLETS type PMC or similar

loaded evenly up to 10,000 pounds).

The increase of the storage capacity of the site where it is installed as the entire floor area can be used, given the ease of manual handling in any direction and with reduced action area.

Work safety, as the system is equipped with special

pallet stops and the provision of ball holders is designed to allow the operator to have enough free space to stand firmly on the floor of non-slip aluminium tread plates.

System installation even in irregular floored rooms as

the system is provided with adjustable supports with hinged feet that allow installation of the system perfectly levelled and in line with standard cargo loader.

Eliminating the use of expensive anti-explosive

handling equipment as bridge cranes, forklifts etc. in warehouses where explosive and/or flammable materials are stored.

Installation where the absence of electrostatic

charges (ESD) must be guaranteed, as the system cannot develop them.

Set up of sorting and storage depots where there is no electricity or where it cannot be used, totally eliminating electricity consumption costs.

Minimal costs and times of routine maintenance of

facilities and handling equipment. Easy removal and adaptation to other facilities using

the same elements. Stowing using minimum space as all of its parts can

be easily dismantled and put in normal containers. Easy individual replacement of each component of

the structure.

DESCRIPTION OF COMPONENTS

A - Support and housing of steel ball elements, designed and constructed to withstand heavy loads and extremely heavy stress, fitted with hinged feet, easily adjustable and lockable with metal floor sockets, designed for a capacity to load direct compression of up to 1500 kg (3,300 lb). All components are specially manufactured with CNC machining centers made from solid bars of cold galvanized, extruded or rolled steel.

B - Massive balls built to withstand heavy stress and extremely heavy loads, consisting of a massive carbonitrided lathe-worked steel box, Ø 30mm with bottom of metal pre drilled stainless steel AISI 304 for discharge of dust and dirt. Balls are made of steel AISI 420C, designed to direct crushing loads up to 500 Kg (1,100 lb). C – Connection crossbars grid for coupling and support, made by pairing the elements of housing and support, specially designed for the placement of

additional ball holders (up to a maximum of 20 additional ball holders per square meter). Crosses are made of bent and shaped sheet metal, specially designed with CNC machining centers, cold galvanized, coupled by joints and bolts. D - Pallet stops placement exclusive and specific elements, made of pre drilled bent and shaped sheet metal, specially designed by CNC machining centers, cold galvanized, coupled and fixed by bolts. E - Pallet stop with non-slip grip made of lathe-worked solid aluminum bars.

F - Support and anchor units and perimeter bumpers, made of bent and shaped sheet metal, specially designed with numerically controlled machining centers, cold galvanized and bolted. G - 10mm thick aluminium plate bumpers 60802T6 alloy aluminum type or similar, fixed by bolts. H - Closing floor non-slip tread plates, made of 2,5+2 mm thick 5754 alloy or similar aluminum, shaped by special machines with CNC machining centers, secured with bolts to the support structure, easily removable for inspection and maintenance.
