The Background

• Kick it out – the largest anti-discrimination charity in the UK - has stated sexism is “largest discriminatory problem within English football at present day.”

• Andy Burnham – previous MP for Culture, Media and Sport set up the Commission for the future of women’s sport – to address the issue.

The Issue• The Club relies on the local

community for all sources of revenue. All gate receipts, sponsorship and hospitality income is sourced from the local vicinity.

• The club is ignoring 52.1% of the local population.

• It marks the biggest potential for growth• Could potentially double the clubs customer

base and thus income.

Analysis

• The CoFWS state that 80% of females do not get enough regular exercise, whilst only 8% of young women today play competitive sports.

• The Football Foundation is the UK largest sport charity and invests over £40m in grass routes level football in facilities and schemes that promote equality and diversity.

• Dorchester Town FC youth system has over 500 boys representing the club, but only 60 girls.

Proposal

That the club investigate the feasibility of expanding the girls youth section to bring it into line with the boys.

The budget for such recommendations shall be financed in the form of Football Foundation Grants.

Therefore, it is proposed that a sub-committee comprising of the chairman, financial director and communications director investigate the cost of the above recommendations. They shall report the findings at the next scheduled board meeting.
