Setalux® 1903 BA-75 and Setal® 1603 BA-78 Excellent resins for high solid topcoat systems SERVICE AND RESEARCH LEAD THE WAYRESINS Akzo Nobel Resins has i ntroduced two solvent borne resi ns for VOC-compli ant two- component topcoat system s for Vehicle Ref inishes and Com mercial T ransport coatings. Our prod ucts Setal ux® 19 03 BA-75, an acr ylic polyol and Setal® 1603 BA-78, a polyester polyol, or combinations of both, offer an excellent balance between VOC and drying properties in clearcoat and solid colour topcoat formulations . When combined with aliphatic poly-isocyanates they form coatings with perfect mechanical properties and good weather resistance. These resins can be used in ambient curing as well as in forced drying systems. Setalux® 1903 BA-75 is an acrylic polyol with 4.5% OH (calculated on non-volatiles) and is supplied at 75% non-volatiles in butyl acetate. In combination with aliphatic isocyanate resins , it will give fast drying VOC-complia nt ( 420 g/l ) coat ings w ith good chem ical resistance, good appearance and good outdoor durability. Setal® 1603 BA-78 is a polyester polyol with 5.4% OH (calculated on non-volatiles) and is supplied at 78% non-volatiles in butyl acetate. In combination with aliphatic isocyanates it will give VOC-compliant (400 g/l) coatings with good drying properties at elevated temperatures, good through hardening and good outdoor durability. Setalux® 1903 BA-75 and Setal® 1603 BA-78 can both be used as single binder or in combination with each other. For example, a combination of 70 solids parts Setalux® 1903 BA-75 with 30 solids parts Setal® 1603 BA-78 will give coatings with a good balance in viscosity, drying performance, chemical resistance and outdoor durability. Setalux® 1903 BA-75 and Setal®1603 BA-78 are dilutable with many solvents and are compatible with many binders. Both resins have good pigment wetting properties making high gloss topcoats possible . Excellent resins for high solid topcoat systems
SERVICE AND RESEARCH LEAD THE WAY
R E S I N S
Akzo Nobel Resins has introduced two solventborne resins for VOC-compliant two-component topcoat systems for
Vehicle Ref inishes and Commercial Transport coatings. Our products Setalux® 1903 BA-75, an acrylic polyol and
Setal® 1603 BA-78, a polyester polyol, or combinations of both, offer an excellent balance between VOC and drying
properties in clearcoat and solid colour topcoat formulations. When combined with aliphatic poly-isocyanates they form
coatings with perfect mechanical properties and good weather resistance. These resins can be used in ambient curing as
well as in forced drying systems.
Setalux® 1903 BA-75 is an acrylic polyol with 4.5% OH (calculated on
non-volatiles) and is supplied at 75% non-volatiles in butyl acetate. In
combination with aliphatic isocyanate resins, it will give fast drying
VOC-compliant (420 g/l ) coat ings with good chemical resistance,
good appearance and good outdoor durability.
Setal® 1603 BA-78 is a polyester polyol with 5.4% OH (calculated on
non-volatiles) and is supplied at 78% non-volatiles in butyl acetate. In
combination with aliphatic isocyanates it will give VOC-compliant (400 g/l)
coatings with good drying properties at elevated temperatures, good
through hardening and good outdoor durability.
Setalux® 1903 BA-75 and Setal® 1603 BA-78 can both be used as single
binder or in combination with each other. For example, a combination of 70
solids parts Setalux® 1903 BA-75 with 30 solids parts Setal® 1603 BA-78
will give coatings with a good balance in viscosity, drying performance,
chemical resistance and outdoor durability.
Setalux® 1903 BA-75 and Setal®1603 BA-78 are dilutable with many
solvents and are compatible with many binders. Both resins have good
pigment wetting properties making high gloss topcoats possible.
