Prof. Steffen Scholpp, Living Systems Institute, University of Exeter Abstract title: PCP/Vangl2 signalling regulates Wnt cytonemes

Wnt transport and endocytic trafficking in this process is the subject of intense debate. My team has shown that Wnt is transported on long, actin-based filopodia - known as cytonemes to contact responding cells and activate signalling in human gastric tumour tissue and zebrafish embryogenesis. We are in the process of deciphering the molecular mechanism controlling cytoneme formation and the consequences on cell signalling and tissue development and homeostasis.
