INTRODUCTION
In the name of Allah the Most Beneficent, the Merciful
Knowledge is the legacy of the prophets & messengers being distributed throughout theworld. The Holy Quran says about the superiority of knowledge:
“And He taught Adam the nature of all things; then He placed them before theangels, and said: “Tell me the nature of these if ye are right.” (1131)
The foundation of Govt. College, Civil Lines Multan was laid in 1959. The role of this almamater, in serving education for the young builders of the nation cannot be simply measuredthrough words. The teachers and scholars who served this institution were of great calibre.As a result, this college has produced great scholars, bureaucrats, judges, army officers,engineers, politicians and people of great fame spreading all around the world.During decades it has established from a tiny plant to a powerful shady tree with differentbranches of knowledge in Multan and Southern Punjab.Fortunately, the hard working teaching staff and the worthy Principal are always ready tohelp and guide the students. The spirit of service and devotion has always played animportant role in this regard.The campus of the college is situated in the heart of Multan City. The building consists of red-bricked single storey academic block. It consists of library block, post-graduate block and acommerce block with a boundary wall.The college has its great records in the sports as well. The bonafide students of the collegealways keep it up. Our students not only won the titles on different occasions but also theyhad shown their worth at National level many times.Recently, the worthy Principal after taking charge has shown great interest in thedevelopment of college.The Information Technology (Computer), Library Science and the Deptt. of Geography areequipped with latest technology and modern instruments.The Holy Quran says:“He granteth wisdom to whom He pleaseth; and to whom wisdom is granted recievethindeed an abundant good; but men of understanding” (ii 269)The result of Post-graduate wing, specially the English Department has shown the resultsabove University for last many years. For the admission to 1st year, 3rd year and toM.A. (English) and M.A. (Urdu) properadvertisement would be given in national papersand also at the college notice board.Moreover, schedule of the Board and Universitywill be displayed in college and advertised innewspapers. The candidates and the applicantsare advised to be well aware of the schedule,relating to admission to Intermediate, Degreeand Post-graduate classes. A merit list will bedisplayed after interview and etc.
The merit list will be displayed at the collegenotice board and all the candidates are advisedto bring their original documents. After fillingthe admission form, the office will receive theadmission fee.
The students are advised to submit theirphotographs as early as possible along with cardfee Rs. 30/-.Aduplicate card will be issued aftertaking the fine of Rs. 50/- while a third time buscard will be issued at the request of father /guardian after receiving the fine of Rs. 100/-.

6. A students continuously remainsabsent for six days or collectively forten days in all or in any subject, thename of the student will be struck off.Such student will be allowed for re-admission conditionally after the suretyof his father/ guardian with a fine of Rs.150/- only once.
7. The students who do not attend classeseven 15 days before their annual exam,will be struck off.
8. The shortage of attendance may causethe failure in sending their admissionto University / Board.
9. An application for re-admission m u s tbe submitted within 15 days after thestruck off, otherwise, the applicantmay lose the right for re-admission tothe college. College Council willdecide for re-admission.

Rules for Changing the Subjects

1. The students who have taken admissionto Arts subjects cannot change the subjects cbyscience subjects. Though a student of sciencesubjects can change his subject.2. The subjects of arts group can bechanged by the other group of arts:
A) The application for change ofsubjects till 1 of October,otherwise it may be rejected.
B) The change should be grantedif it is feasible according tothe number of students.
3. The permission for the change ofsubject must be granted by the concernedteacher. It is not the right of the student.4. After the change of subjects, it will bethe responsibility of the student to inform boththe teachers by showing the new permissionletter. So the teacher may un-register his rollnumber. Otherwise, his name may be struck offfrom college roll.
1. The deserving students are givenscholarships from Government, Un i v e r s i t y,Municipal Committee Board and FujiFoundation, other than that Zakat and Qarz-e-Hasna are also available.2. The Principal ha authority to give halffee concession to the 10% students of thecollege.3. If the elder brother/sister of the studentis getting education in the same/otherGovernment institution and has been paying fullfee. The student may get benefit of half feeconcession.

Every application must be sanctionedbefore it is granted (except emergency).3. More than three to seven days, theapplication would be sanctioned by the teacher.4. The examinations of the Board and theUniversity are held after the completion of theacademic session. Only those students canappear in the examination who will get throughthe internal examination.The 3rd year examinations are held within theCollege every year. The students may bepromoted in next class upon their satisfactoryacademic performance and the failures will bestruck off from College.
The December / March tests are held regularlyevery year other than internal examination.The teacher take tests off and on in the classes.The absentees are fined. The candidates who arefound guilty in test by using unfair means arealso fined / dismissed from College.Monthly test are also held and reports are sent tothe Board and the grades of the students areenlisted. The students who cannot get at least 'E'grade, their admission will not be sent.In case of practical, the student must have 75%attendances. Otherwise, he will not be able toappear in the examination.
In order to elevate the mental qualities and todevelop the good relationships betweenteachers and students the system of tutorialgroup has bee introduced in the college. Inaccordance with this system every student whoseeks admission to this college remains in theparticular supervision and attention of theteacher. In this way, the teacher performs theduties of a Counsellor to enhance the individualand personal capabilities of the student. Hefulfi ls the psychologica l and mora lrequirements of the students. The College has its own magazine with thename of "Dalil-e-Sahar". This magazine ispublished every year regularly and is distributedamong the students. In this magazine, literarycreations of the students and the teachers arepublished. There is a student editor for thecollege magazine. The literary creations of theteachers are also published in the magazine. Thestudents editors work under the guidance ofteacher editors.
In the College Library, near about thousandsbooks are available on all subjects and ondifferent topics. Some of the books are rare andprecious. There is a vast hall attached withlibrary as a study room. Here, English and Urdunewspapers and magazines are provided to thestudents. In the college library, the books areissued to the students for 14 days. After the timelimit the students are fined one rupee per day. Incase of tearing pages and distort the book, a newbook is acclaimed. In case of lost, the doubleprice of the book may be charged. A separatecard of library is issued to every student forissuing of books. It is necessary to submit allbooks before summer vacation. The followingbooks are not issued.

For positive physical growth , sports andphysical training are essential for every student.The facilities for the traditional sports areavailable in the College.The students participation in the sports iscompulsory. In case of not participating in thesports, students are fined. The facilities forplaying badminton, lawn tennis, football,hockey, cricket and volley ball are also availablein the college. The college teams also participate
personal record of all the students included inthe group. The students are no allowed to changetheir tutorial group. The group consists ofstudents of all classes. There is a group meetingonce in a week in which literary programmes arearranged. In these activities, the junior studentslearn a lot from their tutors and senior students.The absentees from the groups are also fined.
Keeping in view the increasing psychologicalcomplaints among the students, the departmentof conuselling and guidance has bee established.The main function of this department is toprovide the students proper guidance in theselection of subjects and to help them for theirbright future. It also co-operates with thestudents in solving their psychological, socialand economic problems.
To create the civic sense, power of writing anddebates, all sorts of academic and culturalactivities different organizations are present inthe college. The regular meetings are held in thisregard. These organizations arrange annualprogrammes of the new academic year. Thefollowing organizations have bee established inthe college.
1. The organization of social learning.2. The literary society.3. The Islamic learning council.4. The scientific society.5. The (Silsila) literary organization of
Urdu department.6. The English Literary Society.
These organizations are based on socio culturalbasis and do not interfere with the matter of theCollege.All sorts of political organizations and theirnegative activities are strictly prohibited in theCollege. In the above said societies only thosestudents are given responsibilities whoseattendance, attitude and character aresatisfactory.

in Inter-board and University tournaments inMultan and outside Multan. For every sportsseparate clubs have been set up under thesupervision of incharge professors. All thesegames are played in the evening in the collegeground.The students also participate in the athleticsunder the supervision of a Professor. Every yearin the spring season, annual sports of the collegeare organized. Participating in these athletic, thestudents exhibit their training of the whole year.At the end of these athletics, the winners areawarded & decorated by the Chief Guest.
In the examination, sports, organizations and inother healthy activities, the students winningprominent position are given away prizes andcertificates.
The Prize Distribution celebrations areheld at the end of every programme individuallyas well as collectively on the occasion ofAnnualConvoscation.
In order to maintain discipline and law and ordersituation in the College, for providing peacefulatmosphere for teaching, proctorial system hasbeen introduced. The teachers are appointedproctors for this system and tor the assistance ofteacher proctors, a group of students proctors arealso appointed. These students are taken fromdifferent classes, who are responsible andsuitable for this purpose. These student proctorsmaintain moral values among the students. Theyalso co-operate and lend helping hand for themaintenance of discipline throughout theacademic year.In this way, the teachers and the studentstogether create pleasant atmosphere for theeducation.
The students are admitted into College for theiracademic and moral growth. Their behavioroutside the College should be examplary like atrue Pakstani. The College Council has the rightto dismiss such students.

B) Who are careless in theirattendance.Any one of the followingpunishments can be given bythe College Council:
1. Fine at least Rs. 200/-2. A student may be kept undersupervision for a specific period. If the studentsdoes not improve his behavior, he can bedismissed.3. Such student may be dismissed 15 daysand then may be dismissed from the College.The students may keep certain things in mind tokeep the discipline.1. Keep silence in college library and
corridors.2. Not to crowd in corridors and
outside the classrooms.3. Not to enter in Principal office,
staff-room, office of the clerkswithout permission.
4. They must be regular otherwisetheir names may be struck off..

It is expected that the students may keepcertain things in mind for the moral code anddiscipline of the College.1. Must keep in mind the rights ofothers, discipline and moral rules.2. The teachers of the college, especially proctor-teahcers have rights to take action against thestudents who will violate the rules and will bringinto the notice of the Principal and CollegeCouncil.

Different Facilities
Free medical facilities are provided to students.For this purpose, a free medical dispensary isestablished in college hostel. A skilledcompounder is available for immediate First-Aid.
The facilities of practicals, Labs in Physics,Chemistry, Biology, Zoology, BotanyGeography and Statistics are provided for F.Sc.and B.Sc. students.
A vast nursery is established at College for theBotany students.
1. Al leave of 4 days may be sanctioned bythe Vice-Principal on a printed form. Thestudent will keep a copy of the sanctioned leavethe other portion may be submitted to office.2. To travel by air or by rail, theconcession form may be sanctioned by the Vice-Principal.3. For the attestation of the University andthe Board of Intermediate & SecondaryEducation form, contact the relevant professor,the forms of girls will be attested by the WomenCollege teachers.4. For the attestation of papers, originaldocument are required. Do not insist forattestation without original documents.5. a) There are only 35 seats in each facultyboth for male and female.b) Admission to M.A. (English) and Urduclasses will follow the admission policy of thePunjab Government vide letter No. So(c) 7.584dated 9.786.c) Acandidate who has secured at l e a s t2nd division (45% marks) in the subjectconcerned or 2nd division in B.A./B.Sc. will beeligible for admission to M.A. class.d) Credit for division obtained in thePublic Examination i.e. Matric, B.A/B.Sc. iscalculated to the following formula:
