Introduction
• Injuries can be classified into two basic categories:
• Traumatic injuries• Overuse injuries
• What is the difference?
Traumatic injuries
• These injuries suddenly occur
• An individual will feel the immediate effect of the injury
• May be in the form of pain, swelling or an open wound
• Traumatic injuries is divided into two categories
Traumatic Injuries
• Two categories:-
Extrinsic and Intrinsic
• Extrinsic:- caused by an external force
• Intrinsic:- No obvious cause present, or stress occurs within the individuals body

• Common in endurance & individual skill sports
