May 14th 2014. Serbia
The day before, Republic Hydrometeorological Service of Serbia has
warned of “Abundant rainfall and rising water levels”...
But, there were no serious reactions…
No warning systems were used.
The river dams were not set up.
People were stunned.
Two months later, the recovery is still in
progress...
Many people did not return to their homes yet…
More than $40 million was collected so far via
humanitarian activities...
… be prepared to survive!
Through disaster management, we cannot completely
counteract the damage but it is possible to:
- minimize the risks through early warning,
- provide developmental plans for recuperation from the
disaster,
- generate communication and medical resources, and aid
in rehabilitation and post-disaster reconstruction.
… be prepared to be surprised!
