With The ELIMINATE Project, Kiwanis International and UNICEF have joined forces to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. This deadly disease steals the lives of 60,000 innocent babies and 30,000 mothers each year. The effects of the disease are excruciating — tiny newborns suffer repeated, painful convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and touch. To eliminate MNT from the Earth by 2015, 129 million mothers and their future babies must be immunized. This requires vaccines, syringes, safe storage, transportation, thousands of skilled staff and more. It will take $110 million — and the dedicated work of UNICEF and every member of the Kiwanis family. Kiwanis and UNICEF joined forces to tackle iodine deficiency disorders, achieving one of the most significant public health successes of the 20th century. Now, they are eliminating MNT from the face of the Earth. And in doing so, the project will reach the poorest, most neglected mothers and babies with additional lifesaving health care. The end of this one disease means the beginning of better health for so many families.

MEP is a program in which Key Club International challenges all Key Clubs and members to focus energies on making an

international impact. The Key Club service initiative is an element of the MEP and is created on a two-year basis. The 2008-2010 service initiative is

Live 2 Learn.

Live 2 Learn focuses on the development of children, especially in the 5 to 9-year-old age group. Though one of the main motivations for implementing this program is to promote education and improve literary skills, it does not stop there. Live 2 Learn is meant to encourage the development of children in many ways, socially, academically, and creatively.

Three main focuses are: 1. Improving Grades

2. Giving Back 3. Growing Together

Contact Information It is very important that I have all contact information from each of the clubs in my division. I need each club to send me their name, position, street address, email, and phone number and/or cell phone number for the faculty advisor, president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and any other member on the board. This helps me send each a club monthly newsletter; reminders when to me send monthly reports, and any other district news. Email is the best way to send me the information, but you can also mail me the information. My street address is found on page five.

MacDonell United Methodist

Children’s Service will be this year’s fall rally interclub. MacDonell

provides around-the-clock care, education and encouragement to children who are neglected and

dependent and need care outside of their homes. They also try to insure

that all children receive the best possible care in a safe environment. Going with the theme of our rally, I
