SEPTEMBER GALLERY LOCATIONS & EXHIBITS:1. CAP ArtSpace
171 E. State St. (Inside Center Ithaca Visitor Center ) | artspartner.orgGallery Night: Victoria Romanoff (sculpture) & Gillian Peder-son-Krag (painting)Gillian Pederson-Krag and Victoria Romanoff both earned BFA’s from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1962 . It was a period at RISD where there was a huge emphasis on the importance of drawing and they found that the education they received was challenging and inspiring. They took a further step and obtained Masters of Fine Arts degrees from Cornell University in the mid-1960’s. Even though their work is quite different in their chosen materials and techniques , their former education and training provided a link that has remained visually cohesive.
The Community Arts Partnership thanks the Tompkins Trust Company for their generous sponsorship of the CAP ArtSpace and C.S.P. Management for spon-soring this exhibit.

7. Hilton Garden Inn130 E. Seneca St. | hgi.comDREAM HOME by Charlotte GhiorseHaunted houses are a metaphor for the aging female. I have been painting images of haunted houses since the beginning of my career 1991. And am trained in Second Generation Abstract Expressionism. My mentor Dennis Byng, would often Ask: Is it really important for you to paint a portrait of a house? Yes! I would say. Painting paint is super exciting but there is some-thing about a broken down building... I can’t quite put my finger on. These images are from 2002, 2007, 2014, 2015. The song remains the same I just can’t stop myself. So I keep going. Because they are fun...

Malkin explores the theme of going “Elsewhere,” its perils and the hopes of reward, through fantastical and dreamlike works on paper. Grossman’s debut showing, “Somehow,” revolves around collaboration, joining forces with other artist to create unique pendants and marbles that could not be realized on one’s own.
19. New Roots Charter School116 N. Cayuga St. | newrootsschool.org“Mug Shots”, photographs by Tim DrakeLife seeks balance; empty cups beg to be filled, full cups seek to be con-sumed. Periods of exertion are followed by moments of rest and long pauses bring insight into actions to be taken. To me the settling of coffee grounds on the cups bottom reminds me how precious and unique each day is. The probability of life itself being so small and yet our ability to miss the beauty that surrounds us often so big. To learn to slow down and experience it all; creation, destruction, art, grief, joy and everything in between is the real gift.

20. Ithaca Coffee Company 311 E. Green St. | ithacacoffee.comThe Pillsbury Building Print Series by Nina Widger
Created in 2001 the subject matter for this series in the Pillsbury Grain Building which used to stand in North Milwaukee along highway 43. The print series was made by reworking some original sketches in pastels on watercolor paper. After creating the pastel series, the artist scanned each piece and made sets of prints using an original Iris Giclee printer at Milwaukee’s Cream City Editions. They are printed with an archival water based ink on watercolor paper.
21. Press Cafe118 W. Green St. | facebook.com/ithacapress/Recent Work by Nicole CostaThis selection of recent work is inspired by the deck of 52 playing cards...and how it corresponds to the deck of tarot cards....especially The Joker from the deck of 52, known as The Fool in the tarot...in both decks this card marks the beginning and the end of a re-cycling cycle...every shuffle deals a different hand...dictates different play and tells a different story but all essentially about the journey of the Joker or Fool...who is ever present in every play....
22. Nature’s Apothecary115 S. Cayuga St. | NaturesApothecaryIthaca.comTender Moments by Lisa SchreinerNew to Ithaca, Lisa is a visual artist that works in multiple traditional media. Her creations encourage her (as well as the viewer) to slow down, reconnect and see that both this world and ourselves are filled with beauty and magic. This exhibit is about being with that beauty which surrounds us. She uses whatever artistic media will con-vey those feelings to create two and three dimensional portals to that connection.

As the summer heat fades, Lifelong will again be displaying some of the work from the local community of quilters. The quilt exhibit will be up through September and October, and will open during Gallery Night September.
