KEY CLUB PLEDGEI pledge on my honor

to uphold the objects of Key Club International;

to build my home, school, and community;

Lieutenant Governor Letter

Dear Division 3W, I hope you guys have been

having a fantastic school year so far! With the Membership Update Center now open, Fall Training weeks away, Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, and much more coming soon the Key Club year is really starting to ramp up with lots being done and lots to be done.

I’ve had to fantastic opportunities to visit with many of your clubs before or after summer, but would still love the opportunity to come hang out with your club and volunteer with them. You’ll be hearing more frequently from me starting this month so that I can always be in touch and making sure your club has everything they need to succeed.

The most important thing to note is that while the school year has only just begun, we are already about 1/3 through the Key Club year. Before you know it, it will be time to elect the next LTG to serve 3W. Our Division Election Conference to elect the 2015-2016 is not likely to occur until around January, but you still need to make sure to be thinking about it ahead of time and looking to your club members to see who might be fit to continue on the legacy we have begun.Love, Rachel Iselin!

DISTRICT UPDATESHas your club done a project this summer? Email [email protected] and [email protected] with your pictures and you may be given a shout out on the T-O Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

Congrats to the top 5 outstanding projects from the month of July posted on the district website. These are great ideas for all clubs!

Congrats to the Top 25 clubs for the first quarter! Keep up the good work! Also remember if you aren’t in the Top 25 this quarter you could be the next, so just continue to keep serving as much as you can. S/O to Cy-Ranch and Cinco Ranch for their hard work!

Is your school getting ready to jump into this next year of service and school work? With the Back to School Resources Package on the T-O website, you can find great resources for your club. E-mail [email protected] if something you need is not on the website!

The 2014-2015 goal is to reach 18,000 members by Convention (April 9th-12th, 2015). The Membership Update Center is now open for the 2014-2015 year. Make sure that your club pays their dues for the 2014-2015 year!

Movie Night - Host a movie night in the location of your choosing (ask for permission). You are not allowed to sell tickets or ask for entry fee’s due to copy right laws, but you can ask for donations and sell stuff at a concession stand for cash!

Clothing Drive – Sometimes a family arrives totally unprepared for a long stay. Social Work frequently receives requests from the ER for cozy clothes including athletic pants, t-shirts and ‘hoodies’ as well as practical items like socks and underwear. From newborn to Adult XXL, a range of sizes is always needed. Clean out your closet and help out a family in need!

Busy Books for Kids – For a little patient in a waiting room, boredom can set in quickly. Assemble a “Busy Book” to entertain them as they wait. Use ribbon, yarn or staples to secure several coloring pages, mazes and/or word games into a small packet. Don’t forget to include a colorful cover page (perhaps decorated) and 3-4 crayons per packet.

Busy Books for Adults – Parents get bored too! Help them pass the time by providing a few pages of Sudoku, word finds and puzzles stapled in a packet. Don’t forget to attach a pen or pencil!

Jewelry Sale – Make and sell trinkets like bracelets and earrings to people for a price! Be sure to take the price of the materials into mind that way you aren’t losing money!

Governor’s ProjectYou may conduct toy drives and have the items donated to the

hospital. Once items are brought to the Hospital, some of our staff and trained volunteers will be able to distribute the items to our patients.Donations may be dropped off at both the Main Campus and the West Campus. All donations should be unwrapped to ensure age and gender

appropriateness. Items will be distributed to patients at the campus where they are donated. Advance notice of donations is appreciated.

What is the Youth Opportunity Fund?The Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) is an endowed fund for Key Club International held within the Kiwanis International Foundation.This fund uses earned interest to help Key Clubs and Key Club members serve the world by providing grants for service opportunities. The fund also provides academic scholarships for higher education. The Youth Opportunities Fund is established through a portion of your Key Club International dues and through the purchase of G. Harold Martin Fellowships. The application must be received by October 15

at 11:59PM EST.

The Basics you need to know: YOF grants are given only to

Key Clubs and/or club members.

Clubs may request funding assistance ranging anywhere from US$100 to US$2,000. The committee typically funds those clubs who are asking for a portion of the total cost of the project, and clubs who are working with other organizations to fund and complete the project.

Guidelines for filing the application are also listed in the Key Club Guidebook under Board Policies.

Visit keyclub.org for more info!
