Welcome!

If you are visiting with us today, we welcome you to Second Presbyterian. Please sign our Friendship Pad, which will be passed during the Greetings time of the service. Our Congregational Communities (CCs), also known as Sunday School classes, offer a wide variety of options for various age groups and stages of life. Visiting a CC is the best way to get to know others and become involved. CCs meet on Sunday mornings at 9:45 a.m. For a full listing of classes, visit 2pc.org/cc.

Weekly Focus on Missions

World Missions: Josh and Elizabeth Johnson have been serving in Trujillo, Peru for the last six months. Much of their time has been spent learning the language and making friends. Josh is working with Stewardship Sinergia — a ministry that offers loans, workshops, and classes to small businesses. It also creates opportunities to tell their clients about the gospel of Jesus, His love for them, and their need of a savior. They can invite them to church, pray for and with them, and show them they are different from other credit givers in town. Pray for the work of Sinergia as they seek to clearly and boldly share the Gospel in all their interactions with clients, for patience and boldness in learning Spanish, deepened friendships, and for open doors for Elizabeth to use her gifts and talents in Trujillo.Mission Memphis: The Mission Memphis Committee would like to thank all of our ministry partners, the CityServe Planning Team, and the many volunteers who assisted with planning and organizing the events of CityServe weekend. During this time, we’ve learned more about the needs of the children in our city, and we pray that God will show us ways to support our partners that minister to the neediest in the greater Memphis area.

Alas! and did my Savior bleed and did my Sov’reign die? Would He devote that sacred head for sinners such as I?

At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light, And the burden of my heart rolled away, It was there by faith I received my sight, And now I am happy all the day!

But drops of grief can ne’er repay the debt of love I owe: Here, Lord, I give myself away, ’tis all that I can do.

Alas! and did my Savior bleed and did my Sov’reign die? Would He devote that sacred head for sinners such as I?

At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light, And the burden of my heart rolled away, It was there by faith I received my sight, And now I am happy all the day!

But drops of grief can ne’er repay the debt of love I owe: Here, Lord, I give myself away, ’tis all that I can do.

Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon:

Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their produce.

Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage,

that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease.

But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile,

and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.

We consider it a privilege to have our children in worship with us. If your small children become restless and vocal, we invite you to the children’s room especially designed for them at the rear of the Sanctuary. They are also welcome in the nursery. Older children should also be encouraged to come to church prepared to stay in their pew throughout the service. One of our pastors will be available after the service to pray for you or to offer helpful direction regarding your spiritual life. He will be in the Gathering Room, which is the first room on your left as you exit the southwest door of the Sanctuary (closest to the pulpit). You may also send your confidential email to [email protected] with questions about your spiritual life.
