POT O’ GOLD PLANNING MEETING There is a Pot O’ Gold Planning Meeting being held at Neumann Hall, THIS Monday, September 28th, at 6:00PM. Anyone who would like to participate is welcome to attend.

HALF DAY RETREAT TO BE HELD AT ST. AUGUSTINE CHURCH

A Half Day Retreat will be held at St. Augustine Church, on Saturday, October 3rd, from 9:00AM to 1:00PM. The Retreat Leader will be Marilee Beyer. The topic will be Our Blessed Mother. The Day will open at 9:00AM with Mass celebrated by Fr. Cas, followed by a Lesson, Stations of the Cross as seen through the eyes of Mary, the Mother of Jesus (Stations will be outside if weather permits), Meditation, small group discussions, snacks, and time for sharing. Closing will be at 12:30PM with Exposition of the Holy Eucharist done by Deacon Ken Brennan. Please bring your own chair and snacks. The Retreat is open to all. Sign up sheets are in the back of the Churches.

COLLECTION FOR THE CARE & EDUCATION OF PRIESTS

Next weekend’s second collection will be for the Care & Education of Priests.

CCD CLASSES BEGIN CCD Classes have begun for all students in Kindergarten thru 12th grade. Classes are held on Sunday mornings at 9:10AM at Neumann Hall, Choconut. Attendance at classes is especially important for those student who are in 2nd grade and eligible to receive the Sacraments of First Penance and First Holy Communion in April and May of 2016. Classes are also especially important for those students who are in grades 5, 6 & 7 this year. These students are eligible to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation when it is offered again in the Fall of 2017. The Confirmation Program requires two years of instruction beginning now.

ADULT BIBLE STUDY CONTINUES AT NEUMANN HALL

Adult Bible Study is being held on Tuesdays from 9:30 to 11:00AM at Neumann Hall, Choconut. Study is based on the readings for the upcoming Sunday. New members are always welcome.

ALTAR & ROSARY KNIFE RADA SALE St. Brigid Altar & Rosary Society is selling Rada knives as an on-going fund raiser. Orders can be placed with a member of the Altar & Rosary or can be placed on-line by going online to www.helpourfundraiser.com and use customer number 504671. The password is mrsa01pw. Do not use capital letters in the password. Many other items such as Cookbooks, stoneware, no-bake cheesecakes, pound cakes, dips, seasonings, marinades, soups, sauces, and cheeseballs are available thru Rada Cutlery.

CHICKEN BARBECUE TO BENEFIT LITTLE MEADOWS FIRE COMPANY The Little Meadows Fire Company will have a Chicken Barbecue, THIS Sunday, September 27th, starting at 11:00AM—until sold out. Cost is $ 9.00 per dinner and $ 6.00 for a half. The Barbecue will be at the Fire Station. Please support our local Fire Company.

2015 YEAR OF CONSECRATED LIFE A.D. 1540-1900: Apostolic religious orders of men and women are established. These new communities emphasize serving the needs of the poor, especially through education and medical care. With Saint Vincent de Paul, Saint Louise de Marillac forms the first community of non-cloistered sisters. Many religious orders are founded in Europe to meet social needs in the wake of the French Revolution. Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton founds the first apostolic community of women in the U.S..

POT O’GOLD PARTY “St. Brigid Parish ~ Pot O’Gold (Elimination) Party” will be held Sunday October 25th, 2015 at 1:00PM in Neumann Hall, Choconut. A limited number (115) tickets are available at $ 100.00 each. Each ticket admits one person plus a guest to the party. Included in the ticket price will be beer/wine/and buffet style food. Over $ 8000.00 in prizes will be awarded including a grand prize of $ 3000.00. Everyone who buys a ticket will go home with at least a door prize. On the day of the party at intermission as many raffle tickets as possible will be sold for $ 5.00 each for (8) separate raffles for (8) more $ 100.00 tickets. There will also be as many raffle tickets as possible sold for $ 10.00 each for (2) separate raffles for (2) more $ 100.00 tickets. These final (10) tickets can only be awarded to someone who already holds one of the original 115 tickets. If you would like to purchase a “Pot O’Gold” Party ticket, please contact John or Mary Butler (570-553-2199) or the Parish Office (570-553-2288). Parishioners are encouraged to get their tickets now. Tickets are going fast. We need help from individual Parishioners/individual people or families/businesses in the following ways. We need (5) sponsors of $ 100.00 each; (1) sponsors of $ 500.00 each; sponsors to share sponsorship of $ 1,500.00; and sponsors to share the sponsorship of $ 3,000.00. Thank you to the families and businesses who have sponsored the $ 100.00; $ 250.00; and $ 500.00 sponsorships as well as those helping with the $ 1,500.00 and $ 3,000.00 sponsorships ! If you would like to be a sponsor, please call the Parish Office (570-553-2288) OR call John or Mary Butler (570-553-2199). We need donations of 30 door prizes. Only your imagination is the limit on what one of these prizes

DONATIONS FOR BASKET O’CHEER Monetary donations are needed for a “Basket O’ Cheer”. A basket with Irish liba-tions and other Irish Items will be put together to raffle at the “Pot O’Gold Party”. If you would like to make a donation, please put it in the collection basket in a marked envelope or mail to the Rectory. So far we have $ 90.00, one bottle of whiskey and a beautiful LARGE basket to fill!

IS ANYONE INTERESTED IN TAI CHI FOR ARTHRITIS ??? CLASSES BEGINNING SOON Tai Chi for Arthritis is an ancient Chinese exercise that offers arthritis relief through slow, gentle movement. Classes are only (1) hour per session. A class will be held on Tuesday, September 29th at 6:00PM in Neumann Hall. There will be a small fee for each session. If you have questions, please call Barbara Dougherty 570-663-9212 or 607-768-9685. Anyone is welcome to attend.

SHEETS & BLANKETS NEEDED Old/used sheets and blankets are needed to make sleeping bags for the homeless. If you are cleaning out your closet, please consider donating them for this worthy cause. Donations can be left in the back of the Churches or dropped off at the Rectory, (if no one is there, please leave donations on the porch by the driveway). All donations are most welcome. HEALING MASS SCHEDULED Father Pio Mandato, FMHJ, will be celebrating a Healing Mass on Friday, October 23rd, at 7:00PM at St. Mary’s Church, Route 6, Wyalusing, PA. The homily theme will be: “The sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us” Romans 8:18 (reading from the day). Individual healings will take place after Mass. Fr. Pio is a Franciscan priest living as a missionary hermit in the Diocese of Scranton. He was born in Italy; his parents came from Pietrelcina in Southern Italy, this was the same town that Saint Pio, the famous stigmatist priest was from, and they knew Padre Pio well. Father Pio received his First Holy Communion from Padre Pio before coming to the USA. He grew up in New Jersey and entered the Capuchin Franciscans at the age of 17, where he received his Franciscan formation and later priestly formation. He was ordained in 1985 as a Capuchin and has been involved in various apostolates throughout the years, from hospital chaplaincy to working with the homeless in NY, to giving retreats and doing healing Masses. In 1998, he was accepted into the Diocese of Scranton and began living a life of prayer as a hermit in solitude and at times going forth to preach.

LIFE CHAIN The National Life Chain is the largest peaceful, prayerful, pro-life, public witness in the world. More than 1500 cities across the US are expected to participate on Sunday, October 4th. Here in the Southern Tier, we will gather at the Oakdale Mall’s southern parking lot across from Wegman’s (the intersection of Harry L. Drive and Reynolds Road). At 2:00PM we will form a “chain” from the sidewalk in front of the lot Eastward down Harry L. Drive. It will be 90 minutes of peaceful, powerful, pro-life witness. You are invited and please feel free to bring any person of goodwill with you.

ANNUAL MEDICARE OPEN ENROLMENT PERIOD—ENROLLMENT EVENTS SCHEDULED Each year from October 15th through December 7th, Medicare beneficiaries have an opportunity to look at the insurance plans and drug plans to make sure they are meeting their needs. This open enrollment allows beneficiaries to make these changes, which will become effective on January 1, 2016. The APPRISE program has counselors available to assist Medicare beneficiaries with plan comparisons & enrollments into drug plans. This program will be holding free open enrollment events in our area. An appointment must be made to attend. If you are unable to attend any of the following events, please call your local AAA office to make an appointment.
