Clay Sculpture WorkshopThis workshop will invite young participants to discover clay as a creative material as they contentedly use their hands to dig into the soft medium, exploring its possibilities. In addition, participants will be introduced to basic hand-modeling techniques as they learn about the traditional art of sculpture. These modeling techniques will then be applied as the children embark on an exciting journey of collectively building an enchanted castle.
Painting WorkshopInspired by the scenic waterfront location of Sunnyside Pavilion, participants will create BIG paintings as they work collectively on a magical underwater mural. Painting techniques and composition design will be explored as children dive into a world of aquatic colours and forms.
Children’s art workshops will be hosted on a drop-in basis by Wojtek Biczysko and Juliana Korpan.
We are inviting visitors this year, for the first time, to participate in painting large scale works on canvas. It will be under artistic guidance, but we anticipate much creative force to come from the participants. We want to create a deeper connection between artist and viewer.
Please, come and explore your hidden talent. Let it flourish in the beautiful surroundings of the Sunnyside Pavilion.
Let your creativity grace the white canvas. Release the inner beast of colour.
Special guest:Our Master Monster Maker MMM, Katherine Piro, is coming back to the delight of kids and horror of parents.
Freeing The Human Spirit (FTHS) is a Canadian Charity, founded by Sister Elaine MacInnes Roshi, that brings hope, healing and rehabilitation to the marginalized and forgotten members of society imprisoned in many Canadian jails through meditation and yoga. The aim of the charity is to cultivate humanity among those of us who have become disconnected from the community. FTHS prepares and supports meditation and yoga volunteers to teach inmates these skills for self-development. Ultimately, these individuals are released and become our neighbours, and this program serves to ease their transition back into society at large. We invite you to support FTHS toward creating a safer society for us all through this compassionate and meaningful work. www.freeingspirit.com
A silent art auction in support of this charity is located at the Sunnyside Pavilion as part of the Sunnyside Beach Juried Art Show & Sale. Please visit the booth and see the remarkable works that have been assembled to aid this worthy cause. We invite you to bid, and bid often!

Circle stands for the macrocosm which embraces all creation.
From the macrocosm, the Triangle evolves, as The Trinity.
From The Trinity evolves the Square, the embodiment of the divine idea within the substance.
“CiTriS” Circle, Triangle and Square – symbol for the Divine Human Being, a perfect manifestation of Spirit, Soul and Body.

Scott Everingham, ArtistEveringham holds a BFA from NSCAD University in Halifax, and an MFA from the University of Waterloo, and was a semi-finalist in the 11th and 12th RBC Painting Competitions. He recently won a Canada Council for the Arts Project Grant, and has work in the Canada Council Art Bank collection. Powell MacDougall, Director, p|m GalleryFounded in 2004 by Powell MacDougall, p|m Gallery continues to bring work by emerging and mid-career artists to the international arena through solid programming, exhibition exchanges, and participation in international art fairs. Prior to establishing p|m Gallery, Powell gained extensive experience in museums and the commercial art world, where she honed her ability to develop Canadian artists within the international scene, and vice versa. Her position as gallery assistant at the Art Gallery of York University from 1993 to 1997 has given p|m Gallery a unique twist in Canada: “When I was at the
AGYU, I had the opportunity to work on large-scale projects by international artists. As a result, my approach to programming is more curatorial than commercial in that my foremost concern is finding the best work and bringing that work to both a local and international audience.” Her interest in process-based art has led her to represent a diverse group whose remarkable work in painting, sculpture, photography, performance, video, installation, wall-dependent and new media sets them apart form their contemporaries. This sense of inventiveness often forms the basis of her art fair programming – a strategy that has paid off: the gallery has developed a reputation for pushing the boundaries of conventional art fair offerings.
Powell was elected Secretary of the Art Dealers Association of Canada in 2010.
