September 2017
A gentle spirit through Christ
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and
dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion,
kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."
Colossians 3:12 (TNIV).
What does it mean to dress ourselves daily with
gentleness? In the context of this passage and other
places in the scriptures, the Lord expects us to have
Christ-like consideration for others. It is hard to define,
yet we know gentleness when we see it and experience it
from others.
In Philippians 4:5 Paul encourages us to "Let our gentleness be evident to
all" (TNIV). Eugene Peterson translates this verse this way: "Make it as clear as you
can to all you meet that you're on their side, working with them and not against
them" (THE MESSAGE).
We can possess a gentle spirit because we belong to Christ and receive his strength
and are recipients of His love. We live in a culture where our witness as followers of
Jesus changes lives as we daily clothe our lives with a gentle, Christ-like kindness
toward others.
Thank you, my church family, for your love, forbearance and consideration of
others. You truly represent the Kingdom of God on earth! Lives are being changed
as we live into the bright future God has in store for us!
With Christian love, joy, and gratitude,
Andi

Jonesboro Core Values
Jonesboro United Methodist Church has been a vital part of our community for 140 years. Our mission is
to "Know Christ and Make Christ Known", through actions that reflect our core values by being:
Welcoming to everyone, including those just beginning their spiritual journey.
Prayer-filled as our Lord and Savior Jesus taught us to be.
Generous with our time, talents and resources in service to God and our neighbors.
As we work to offer Christ to others, our hearts are filled with love and gratitude. Our minds are focused on
serving with excellence. Our doors are open to all in hospitality. Come find a place and a purpose in our church
family!
Notes of thanks.
Thank you all for the many acts of kindness, concern and support to our loving church family
during the illness and passing of our dear loved one Frances. Your love and support has meant so
much and we will always be grateful. During times like these is when you realize how much people
care, and are there for you in time of need.
In Christian Love
The Byrd Family.
I would like to say “Thank You” to you all for all the prayers and phone calls and cards. Special Thank You to Andi for
meeting me @ 5:30 a.m. and helping relieve my fears before surgery.
Again, Thank You all.
