Public lecture:Philosophy for Peace-makers

Jeremy Ive grew up under apartheidin South Africa and helped set up theNewick Park Initiative, which workedto provide the background trust andshared vision to achieve fulldemocracy in that country.

Since then he has been involved inpeacemaking in Rwanda and Sudanand, as Director of Political Process,he is now working on peace plans forcurrent conflict zones.

He's also a vicar who, with his wife,cares deeply for the life of a parish inKent.

Come and hear how a Christianphilosophy is foundational to therelational peacebuilding approach,and why Jeremy did two PhDs.

Developing a Christian philosophy

Jeremy's scholarly work spans manydisciplines and includes 17�� centuryEnglish history, Trinitarian theologyand Reformational philosophy.

In this workshop, for postgraduatestudents and those with a particularinterest in philosophy, he will arguethat the Christian philosophypioneered by Dutch thinkers HermanDooyeweerd and Dirk Vollenhovendeserves special attention, providinga framework that can be worked outto yield insights in all kinds ofdisciplines and real-world situations.

In discussion, students of any subjectwill be encouraged to share theirwork, with a view to finding Christianperspectives to enrich it.
