Butterflies have been universally known as symbols of transformation and rebirth. In this new release by Michael Summers, we see a shift from the ‘paint drip’ series that the artist is known for, to an upward ‘splash’ of color and paint.

Multi-colored butterflies spring forth from a full spectrum of vibrant color. Some are still pulling away from the paint splashes that they once were, while others have fully transformed into soaring butterflies, full of life.

Throughout his career, Michael has focused on “creating the impossible and, more importantly, making the impossible seem plausible.”

ROYO ‘POEMAS’

Valencia, Spain, Royo makes his way to the US every other year to meet his collectors and exhibit his newest collection of originals.

From a very early age, Jose Royo took an interest in art. At the age of 9 he was privately tutored in painting and by 14, he was enrolled at the San Carlos Royal Academy. In his early 20s the young artist received a commission to paint the King and Queen of Spain. From there his career took off.

During his prolific career, Royo has had the rare opportunity to exhibit in museums and has had more books published about him than any other living artist.

‘Poemas,’ Royo’s latest collection, on now at our Laguna Beach gallery, features smaller works depicting his usual subject of women along with many landscapes – not typical of the artist.

“Viento” [above] is an example from his ‘Poemas’ collection. Royo’s treatment of the tree is unique in that the artist does not consider trees merely ‘landscapes’ but figures themselves.

“El Collar Rosa” [cover] is a special limited edition release for ‘Poemas.’ This 16x24’’ hand pulled serigraph will be offered for a show special price of only $1,050.00 – fully framed.
