To make the lives of children and their families a little brighter by focusing on their individual needs with the help of volunteers. Our Mission: Monthly Change A MAKING KIDS COUNT E-NEWSLETTER SEPTEMBER 2011 From Our Desk to Yours Happy Back to School! It seems impossible that it is that time of year again, but we hope everyone has a fun and safe school year! As the kids return to the classroom, Making Kids Count is gearing up to help in any way possible. We have established a relationship with Struthers Elementary School and are looking for ways to help out this school year. The first thing that we are going to do is to drop off items that have been suggested as things they really need. Within the next week we will be delivering school supplies, sweatpants, and underwear (for those little accidents). We will also volunteer at the school throughout the year when they need us! Make sure to check out the next page to find out about the successful Stamping For A ‘Cause fundraiser that was held last weekend. The next page also details our next fundraiser at the Oktoberfest. Our monthly birthday parties are so much fun and we feel extremely fortunate to continue to bring smiles to the children living there, month after month! Last month, the Warren location had a baseball theme party and this month will be football. The Youngstown location has been enjoying various treats from Dairy Queen! We could always use donations of new toys for both boys and girls. It is amazing how much a toy can bring a smile to a child’s face and so rewarding to see!

A MAKING KIDS COUNT E-NEWSLETTER

SEPTEMBER 2011

From Our Desk to YoursHappy Back to School! It seems

impossible that it is that time of year again, but we hope everyone has a fun and safe school year!

Stamping For a ‘Cause Event

Oktoberfest BoothOn October 2nd, we will be at the Oktoberfest at Boardman Park

selling our homemade crafts that our dedicated volunteers have been busy making! We will have our homemade cards, gift bags, gift tags, T-Shirts, school spirit no sew blankets, and other seasonal crafts for sale.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and we hope to see you all there!

On August 27th, we had our “Stamping for a ‘Cause” Fundraiser that was hosted and sponsored by Judy Lawton! At the event, Judy provided all the guests who attended with materials to make 3 different cards and a luncheon! She also had about 20 baskets for the Chinese Auction. The luncheon consisted of a delicious punch and a choice of 2 types of salad (Strawberry Summer Salad & a Taco Salad). For dessert, there were cupcakes that spelled out “Making Kids Count” which were adorable!

Judy approached us a few months ago and was kind enough to put on this wonderful fundraiser for us which raised $1,051! We know how much work is put into a fundraiser and we are so appreciative of her for her efforts in this event. She single-handedly donated all the card materials, food, and drinks. Every penny raised from the ticket sales and Chinese Auction tickets went straight to Making Kids Count! Thank you so much Judy for your kindness and generosity!
