SUNDAY MORNING
8:45 - Traditional Service 10:00 - Sunday School
11:00 - Contemporary Service
“Our God is easy to please, but He is hard to satisfy.” The more I come to understand about the Heavenly Father, the more truth I find in this saying. My own role as a parent has helped me grasp the
concept of a God who smiles at every baby step we take toward growth and maturity, yet also continues to push us to a higher level. Every parent is thrilled with their child’s first words or tod-dling steps across the living room floor, but we always want more that that, don’t we? I believe God is easily pleased when we take a step in the right direction, but because He loves us and wants the best for us, He will not be satisfied until we “become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ” (Eph. 4:13). In His wisdom, God planted the church here on earth as an agent of growth for His Kingdom and a training ground for His children. There is no such thing as a “perfect church,” but we are blessed to be part of a loving family of faith that helps mem-bers grow in their likeness to Jesus Christ. And then together we can reach out with truth and grace to a world that desperately needs a Savior. I know that over the summer, with vacations and scaled-back programs, it’s easy to become disconnected. Almost every church, including our own, see it in the attendance patterns. But now that summer is winding down and school is cranking up, I hope and pray you will make it a priority to be active in the wor-ship, Bible study and ministry of this wonderful gathering we call Broadus Church—whether at the Pole Green or Hebron Campus. God has given you a church to help you grow. I hope you will take full advantage of it. I know it will be pleasing to Him! God bless you all. —Pastor Phil
Hebron Happenings!
Along with renovation projects at the Hebron Campus, we have been building relationships in the community this sum-mer. We have worked with the county schools and social services in King William and King & Queen to distribute 115 backpacks with school supplies, donated to food pan-tries and provided snacks for the staffs of several schools. Finally, the Wild Wednesdays have been a great success. We have had over 140 first time visitors attend Wild Wednesdays and many are looking for a church home. We are excited about our fall at Hebron.
We will be having our Grand Opening on October 9th with dinner on the grounds afterwards. We are asking anyone who attends to RSVP to the church office and bring a cov-ered dish. Prior to the Grand Opening, we will begin a slow rollout for our worship services at Hebron. On September 11th the Hebron core group will meet at Hebron at 11:00 for a time of Bible Study and prayer. September the 18th and 25th will be called Hebron Unplugged. We will be using acoustic sound, in part to allow for any last minute projects to be finished. October 2nd is our final dress rehearsal be-fore the Grand Opening on October 9th. We will invite friends and our Wild Wednesday families to services begin-ning September 18th but our electronic and mailing blitz will be centered on the October 9th Grand Opening. In addi-tion, we will have a Tuesday Night Bible Study for adults beginning October 18th at 6:30.
September 1 through October 10 is 40 days. I know you have been praying for Hebron Campus already, but can you increase it for the next 40 days? God does wonderful things in response to our prayers. I am excited about what God has planned for Broadus in Mechanicsville and beyond! Jeff
