1. Before Judging (Between July 2 – 16)1. Log into the AASHTO Portal.

2. Were the entries received by July 2, 5:00 p.m. MST?

3. Are the entries submitted in the correct category?

4. Were the entry rules followed?

5. Is there only one entry per state, per category?

2. Gather Your Team (Prior to July 2)

1. Form a three-member judging panel.

2. Search for a professional from: the private sector, the public sector, someone from the target audience.

3. Review the “Responsibilities of Individual Judges” sheet.

Review Responsibilities(Review Before July 2)

1. Complete a judges form for each entry.

2. Read the entry form.

3. Inspect each entry.

4. Provide scores and add your comments for each criteria.

7. Comments are required.

8. Questions? Ask the submitting state.

3. During Judging(July 17-31)

1. Judging must be completed by July 31.

2. Collect the score sheets.

3. Make sure each judge has included comments.

4. After Judging(July 31-August 2)

1. Verify the accuracy of the scores by double checking everything.

2. Prepare an Excel spreadsheet that tallies the three judges’ scores.

3. By August 6, email Kimberly Qualls, [email protected], the following:

5. Remember These Dates Eligibility Period - Entries must have appeared, aired, been published,

substantially revised, or event held between June 1, 2013, and May 31, 2014.

Entry Deadline - Entries must be posted to the AASHTO portal no later than 5:00 p.m. MST, Wednesday, July 2.

Jurying - The jurying period begins Thursday, July 17 and ends Thursday, July 31.

Completed judge's forms are due to the Kimberly Qualls, [email protected] by Wednesday, August 6.

Winners Announced - Winners (1st and 2nd place) will be announced on Sept. 30, 2014, at the TransComm 2014 annual conference in Scottsdale, Arizona.
