He was born in Liverpool, and attended the same school as Archbishop Vincent Nicholls – although a few years after him. He studied for the Catholic priesthood in England and in Rome where he did post-graduate theological studies. His Doctorate was written on membership of the Church in Local Ecumenical Partnerships. He has done research into liturgy, for which he was awarded an M.Phil. degree, and he also has degrees in Canon Law from Leuven and Rome. Currently he is also parish priest of St. Augustine's, Milton Keynes. This is an urban lively parish with a very mixed congregation; over 40 nationalities are represented in the parish. In his spare time he is also a regular broadcaster on Premier Christian Radio. Currently he presents a ‘Catholic Commentary’ – a review of the Catholic press. When he was on sabbatical in Rome he was Premier’s ‘Vatican Correspondent’ and used a link between Vatican Radio and Premier Christian Radio to talk to the listeners about life in Rome and the Vatican.
