OVERWHELMING POWER AND HIGH-DENSITY PRESENCE ACHIEVED BY 11.2 CHANNEL DISCRETE AMPLIFIERS

Utilising CINEMA DSP HD3 sound field reproduction to its utmost potential, the CX-A5000 pre-amplifier presents detailed, accurate sound imaging while the MX-A5000 11 channel power amplifier delivers massive power for superb quality and performance. The result is an incredibly accurate, dynamic sound stage which engulfs the audience - the goal to which Yamaha aspires.

SPECIALLY DESIGNED, HIGHLY RIGID CHASSIS ELIMINATES THE EFFECTS OF VIBRATION FOR ABSOLUTE PURITY OF SOUND

Uncompromising in its design, AVENTAGE separate components employ a highly rigid chassis enhanced by an H-shaped cross frame, aluminium side panels and a three-ply structure with independent top cover and side panels. Any external vibration from the rack or other sources is damped by heavy insulators. The A.R.T. (Anti-Resonance Technology) Wedge in the centre of the receiver footprint acts as an additional vibration countermeasure and firmly supports the internal circuitry. In addition, both models have a double bottom with the MX-A5000 consisting of vibration control plates made of 1.6 mm black steel - the same type of construction used by Yamaha’s legendary Z11. To support the heavy heat sinks and other parts, the left-right independent construction

is strengthened by a rigid frame structure. The bottom frame reduces the transmission of vibration produced by the large power supply transformer and heat sinks. It also incorporates a heavy insulator that blocks external vibration.

HIGH-DENSITY PRESENCE AND RICHLY DETAILED SOUND ENSURED BY HIGH QUALITY COMPONENTS AND DESIGN

All channels of the CX-A5000 use ultra high performance ESS ES9016 DACs, which provide 192 kHz/32-bit compatible high signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range ensuring faithful reproduction of audio from Blu-ray, high-resolution network sources and other high-definition players. The matched design of the DAC circuit achieves stable ground potential (DAC on Pure Ground) ensuring high precision D/A conversion. The OP amp is a high-grade type adopted only by flagship models for maximum signal purity. It achieves even greater detail in the sound by adopting a three-layer circuit board design. This design completely separates the digital, analogue video and analogue audio circuit boards which have different noise levels and frequency bands, and provides the shortest possible circuit route. Further, by separating the power supplies to the analogue circuit boards, high frequency noise interference is eliminated from the digital circuits. The shielded power supply restricts noise radiation and the large power transformer minimises vibration.

HIGHEST QUALITY COMPONENTS ACHIEVE MASSIVE POWER OVER 11 CHANNELS

The MX-A5000 uses a current feedback power amp with a three-stage Darlington circuit that has superior phase properties and is resistant to speaker impedance fluctuation. To fully realise its inherent power, it uses high quality parts with superior sound quality that were strictly selected based on listening tests. The power supply transformer is a specially developed high output, high efficiency, large size toroidal transformer. This is combined with two specially developed high capacity (27,000 µF) block capacitors to minimise energy loss and deliver large power supply capacity with generous headroom. This ensures sound capable of superior musical expression. The speaker output terminals are gold-plated and compatible with Y plugs (spade connectors) for optimum speaker connectivity.

NOISE RESISTANT, BALANCED CONNECTION

Electrical noise may occur when connecting separate AV components due to external sources and even the connection between them. To ensure that the CX-A5000 and MX-A5000 are not affected by this distortion, highly noise resistant balanced connections are utilised - the same type typically used in pro audio equipment. Even the RCA unbalanced connection uses a ground sensing transmission method that achieves simple balanced transmission. Where each channel with XLR is used selectively, the impact of noise occurring between the pre-amp and the power amp is removed, minimising sound quality deterioration due to the connection. The CX-A5000 also accepts a balanced audio connection for high-end source components such as CD and network players.

YPAO AUTO CALIBRATION WITH R.S.C. AND SPEAKER ANGLE MEASUREMENT

YPAO (Yamaha Parametric room Acoustic Optimiser) analyses room acoustics and performs speaker angle measurements, then calibrates audio parameters to achieve optimum sound at any of several listening positions. R.S.C. (Reflected Sound Control) is also employed to correct early reflections, yielding studio-quality sound. Further, DSP Effect Normalisation varies the CINEMA DSP parameters according to the reflected sounds.

NETWORK FUNCTIONALITY PROVIDES VERSATILE ENTERTAINMENT WITH GREATER CONTROL

AirPlay lets you stream music wirelessly from a Mac, PC, iPod, iPhone or iPad. Users are also able to access music files stored on the home computer or NAS (Network Attached Storage) device, Internet radio or music streaming services such as Pandora®. Compatibility with high-resolution music files in FLAC/WAV 192 kHz formats provide playback with outstanding sound quality. CINEMA DSP HD3 literally takes the surround sound experience to new heights. By using four CINEMA DSP engines with advanced 3D processing and four presence channels in an 11 channel configuration, it gives the sound an enhanced vertical dimension. While standard HDMI zone switching can only send HD video programs to the main and second zones, Yamaha’s Advanced HDMI Zone Switching adds the capability to choose from various audio and video sources for playback in either zone. An on-screen graphical user interface (GUI) makes it easy to browse and select content to enjoy in the second zone no matter what is being played in the main zone.

VERSATILE AMPLIFIER CONFIGURATION INCLUDING 11.2 CHANNEL OUTPUT AND 5 CHANNEL BI-AMP

The CX-A5000 and MX-A5000 are designed to provide flexible system building. Complementing the 11 channel output that realises the full potential of CINEMA DSP HD3 performance, the combination also supports bi-amping for driving the tweeter and woofer with separate amps. The internal amplifiers are able to provide a up to 5 channels in a bi-amp configuration. Amplifiers can also be used to power multiple zones in addition to the main room, enabling configuration of the system for music playback in a bedroom or kitchen for example. With the MX-A5000, all 11 channels are able to be switched between balanced and unbalanced inputs, further enhancing the versatility of the system.
