DEFINITIONS OF SENSATION AND PERCEPTION.

DEFINITION OF PSYCHOLOGY.

SOMESTHETIC SENSES.

2. VESTIBULAR SENSE ;

3. KINESTHETIC SENSE.

Perception

Sensation

The twin brothers-Sensation and Perception

Sensation:- is just the raw experience of a stimuli by sense organs – eyes, nose, skin, ears, tongue.Perception:- is the interpretation, analysis, of stimuli leading to resulting behavior or in simple words processing the response based on stimuli.

Lets get to the beginning or inception or root.

What is psychology and why we are studying sensation and perception in it?

Psychology is the scientific study of behavior and mental process. Behavior includes all our outward or overt actions and reaction, such as talking, facial expression, and movement. And,the final outcome of sensation and perception is the behavior or response and also how a person takes things from his angle.(perception)

Thus, it has become a mandatory field to study Sensation and Perception

SOMESTHETIC SENSES

Page 7: Sensation and perception

What is the Somesthetic Sense?

Soma means “body” and esthetic means “feeling”. So, the word somesthetic means bodily senses.

Or the senses a human body possesses.

VESTIBULAR SENSE

Page 13: Sensation and perception

1. It is a sense of balance and equilibrium.

2. It is determined by the orientation of the head in relation to the gravity, as well as by movement and acceleration of our bodies through space.

3. Its receptors are in inner ear.

4. It comprises vestibular sacs and semicircular canals, both contain fluid that moves when the head rotates, causes the hair cell inside those sacs and canals, to bend.

5. This mechanical energy is then transduced into electrochemical impulse and is sent for processing in the brain.

KINESTHETIC SENSE

Page 16: Sensation and perception

1. Helps us to ascertain our skeleton movement and body positioning coordinating or relating different body parts with each other.

2. Its receptors are in muscles, tendons, joints and skin.

3. When they detect change in position via pressure, they transduce this mechanical energy into neural energy. This energy in turn codes information about speed of the change, the angle of the body and the tension of the muscles

4. This information is sent to spinal chord where it reaches brain then to somatosensory cortex and to the cerebellum.

5. Which results in automatic process and coordination.

KINESTHETIC SENSE

CONCLUSIONTo drive a car we need a car then the petrol then other things similarly to be a human we need to have a physique then soul and others things, as they say.And the SOMERSTHETIC SENSES are the windowsand the feelings of a human body, that actuallymake human beings to feel their and otherspresence in this never starting and never endinguniverse.
