Fuel of Life

-Gives life

-Powers Dreams

Page 3: Senior Project speech

Childhood

- Outdoors

- Camping

- Exploring

Page 4: Senior Project speech

Camping trip

- My little sister went missing at night

- The only working flashlight was out of

batteries

- Panic struck the rest of the family.

Page 5: Senior Project speech

Relief

- She got lost on her way to the restrooms

- It caused an uproar with my immediate

family.

- It could have ended up much worse

Page 6: Senior Project speech

Avoidance

- This could have been avoided.

- If only the batteries were charged

Page 7: Senior Project speech

Research paper

- Cost efficiency

- Easy handling

- Power rating

Page 8: Senior Project speech

Engineering

- Excelled in science

- Interested in alternative energy

Page 9: Senior Project speech

Curiosity

I wanted to know if making a cost efficient

solar battery charger was realistic.

Price Webb

- Earned his doctorate degree in education

- Teaches physical science, CP physics, and AP

physics

- One of the most intelligent people in the

state.

Page 11: Senior Project speech

Why Webb?

- Prior experience working with each other

- Teaches at Creekview.

- Flexible schedule

Page 12: Senior Project speech

The process

Page 13: Senior Project speech

Step one: the start

- Set up meeting days with Dr. Webb

- His schedule was very lenient

Page 14: Senior Project speech

Step two: the research

- Research

- Research

- Independent Research

Page 15: Senior Project speech

Step three: the Plan

- I needed to decide upon an appropriate

circuit and sketch it.

-Parallel

-Series

- Decide on the battery/solar panel I planned

on using

Page 16: Senior Project speech

Step four: the hunt

-I needed to gather the materials

- Solar panel

- Rechargeable Batteries

- Battery Holder

- Soldering tool

- LED light

- Diode

- resistors

Page 17: Senior Project speech

Step five: the assembly (1)

- To start, I needed to attach everything to a

breadboard to make sure the circuit worked

as I planned.

Page 18: Senior Project speech

Step five: the assembly (2)

- Soldering

- Wiring

- Thinking

- Screaming

Page 19: Senior Project speech

Obstacle

- Wild goose chase

- Drive was exhausting

- Search took time

- Stores were out

Page 20: Senior Project speech

More obstacles

Assembly errors:

- LED

-Stopped working

-Installation

-Diode

-wrong

orientation

Page 21: Senior Project speech

Even more obstacles

-I had to deal with my poor work habits

-As, I'm sure, Ms. Lester could tell you, I am

not the most punctual student in the class.

-To overcome this, along with my

procrastination, I set up meeting with Dr.

Webb that I forced myself to go to

throughout the year.

Page 22: Senior Project speech

Work habits

- The Senior Project has opened my eyes.

- Procrastination

- Resourcefulness

- Determination

Page 23: Senior Project speech

Communication skills

-I lacked communication skills

-I learned:

- Patience

- Formality

- Reliability

Page 24: Senior Project speech

Future goals

- This experience has shown

me that I would still like to

follow my original instinct

of becoming and electrical

engineer.

- I plan to go to Georgia Tech

because it has one of the

best engineering programs

in the world.
