A big THANK YOU again to the people and business's that donated 4-H and FFA animals to the Senior Center. With-out your donations we would struggle or would have to eliminate some meals. We are truly Grateful.
The Holidays are approaching fast and we are gearing up to serve you our wonderful home cooked holiday meals. We will have our Thanksgiv-ing meal on Friday, November 16th at noon, please come and join us.
Our next holiday meal is Christmas, my favorite, on
December 19th! Last year was a hit so we are going to be serving Prime Rib on the bone with a choice of well done to medium. We really liked serving you right from the roaster….. Come and join us for this fun and joyous meal. Again if you know a sponsor or donator Thank them, as this would not be possible without their sup-port.
All of our meals are good, nu-tritious and we so enjoy seeing our guests. Speaking of guests, think about bringing someone for one of our spec-
tacular meals. We take great care and add a dash of love when preparing your food.
Please remember even though old man winter is creeping in, stay hydrated. Winter can be one of the hardest times on our bodies. Keep drinking, Water that is…….
Dates we will be closed and we will not be serving a meal:

The Topic for this month is Pensions. We have had several calls on this recently. Currently the V.A. offers two types of pen-sion, A Veterans Pension and a Survivors Pension.
For a veteran to be eligible for a pension there are some con-ditions that must be met. General-ly the veteran must have served 90 days of active duty service, with at least one day during a wartime period. If you entered service after September 7, 1980 generally you must have served 24 months, or the full period for witch you were called or ordered to active duty ( with some excep-tions), with at least one day dur-ing a wartime period. Further you must meet one or more of the fol-lowing requirements: Age 65 or older, OR Totally and permanent-ly disabled, OR A patient in a nursing home receiving skilled nursing care, OR Receiving So-cial Security Disability Insurance,
OR Receiving Supplemental Security Income.
The Survivors Pension also re-ferred to as the Death Pension, is a tax free monetary benefit payable to a un-remarried surviving spouse and /or un-married child (ren) of a deceased Veter-an with wartime service. The veteran must have met the above requirements plus must have been discharged under other than dishonorable conditions. While an un-remarried spouse is eligi-ble at any age, a child must be; Under 18, OR under the age of 23 if attending a V.A. approved school, OR perma-nently disabled before age 18.
Both pensions are income de-pendent. As always if you have any questions please feel free to contact us here in the Veterans Service Office, (541) 573-1342.

10 Medical Services Medicare Doesn’t Cover won’t pay for acupuncture treatments. Care received outside the U.S.
Medicare typically won’t cov-er health care received in an-other country. However, there are a couple of rare instances when Medicare will pay, such as if a foreign hospital is clos-er than the nearest U.S. hos-pital for a beneficiary injured in the U.S. or if you receive emergency medical services in Canada while traveling be-tween Alaska and the conti-nental U.S. Personal care
If you need to hire help for bathing, dressing or getting out of bed, Medicare typical-ly won’t cover the cost. Med-
icare also generally won’t pay for housekeeping services, such as help with shopping, meals delivered to your home or 24-hour assistance at home. Long-term care
Medicare will pay for a short-term stay at a nursing facility if it follows a hospital stay of three or more days. While

Bring your family or friends and join us for an evening of fun!
We continue our 50/50 fund-raiser at every congregate meal. This money goes to purchase 4-H animals at the fair every year. We try to purchase a lamb, a pig and a steer each if we have enough money collected and donated specifically for the 4-H animals and Feed a Senior Project. Any and all donations for 4-H/FFA ani-mal purchases are greatly appreciated. We are proud to support our kids and feed our seniors!
THE 4-H FAIR AUCTION RESULTS!
The 4-H/FFA Auction this year was a great
success for us! A HUGE shout out to eve-
ryone who donated towards the Feed a
Senior Project. Not only was the Senior
Center itself able to purchase a lamb, a
pig and a steer with our fundraising efforts
but we received so many donations from
local businesses and individuals!!!
Our final tally shows the Senior Center re-
ceived a total of 22 pigs, 10 beef, 12
lambs, and 4 goats. The value of these
animals was over $101,973!! What a won-
derful way to support our local youth and
provide our seniors with locally grown,
farm fresh meat! The kitchen will be able
to provide so many nutritious and delicious
meals this year. Thanks to everyone for
their support.
